Mine work well, so it may be an issue with yours …. have you tried one of the Onic Dab channels ? they should give the full audio and if still not working with them then something for the dealer to look at?

BTW, I'm very surprised how good the Signature's sound system sounds.

We've the Bose / higher spec system in the Ioniq 5 with a subwoofer/etc… …and I can't say the Signature is lacking anything compared to it.

    Hi,

I sense a lot of goodwill for the Inster here.

I have been looking for something that is not big and fugly but with good driving height. My driving is roughly 80% suburbs, 10% country road and 10% motorway (mainly Dublin to Cork). I am not sure how far the LR Inster will manage on the motorway in optimum conditions, let alone Irish weather.

I do have two questions that someone may be able to answer.

What are insurance quotes like for a middle aged person? and

What is the quoted delivery time if you place an order soon?

    Happy driving,

First days driving! I checked the open window and no it does not close when car closed… but side mirrors turn in. I see two extra buttons on the key plipper… to do with boot? Does that mean you can open/lock the boot independant of the car? Very pleased with boot space with rear seats adjusted to enlarge it and also there is a whole section under flooring that could be removed to make deeper. I think the parcel shelf could go too as with privacy glass it is not really needed. Delighted with car and first experience of automatic driving, no more hand brake/clutch.

Re: motorway range, check out the range tests done by Bjorn Nyland and It's Only Electric on YT. Big battery Inster, 120 km/h, range around 215-225 km. Another good youtuber, Battery Life, tests cars at 130 km/h and 110 km/h but hasn't done the Inster yet.

Forget about Irish youtubers, they are fine for reviewing cars but the three YT channels I mentioned are the standard for range testing.

What is the difference between 'normal' and 'eco' in driving mode? The other options are 'snow' and 'sport'.

Most cars for motorways is 100kmph, I wouldn't really suggest anyone goes slower than that on motorway to conserve range.

120kmph will use a lot more, depends on whether you really want to conserve range or not

I’m getting over 400km range in this current weather, with maybe just 25% of that total on motorway (mostly at 100kph). I’d expect 330 - 350 km in this weather if it was all on motorway.

Is that the natural habitat of the Inster? 🤔

I dismissed that since I didn't really think it was. More of a city car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 Trojan Horse

yes top button locks, middle button unlocks, bottom button, hold for 5 secs and the boot only will unlock. There is also an emergency key inside the key for unlocking the driver door. Watch out for the privacy glass, it reverses at night, when the lights are on inside you can see the occupants :-)

Why not? I'm not saying for a daily commute from Cork to Dublin, but from Kildare to Dublin I don't see why not

What is wrong with people that they can't use the quote button? Bloody infuriating.

just looking at 'accessories' to put in those odd coloured sections in doors and seat backs. Nothing clever or stylish unlike the rest of the car and silly prices. Things I had in previous car look poor as all black/dark grey. I have the houndstooth cream interior.

I wrapped my door inserts with vinyl from Aliexpress - there's a huge choice. I can see why the fake wood might not be to everyones taste but I think it fits the retro look of the light interior.

What's wrong with driving it on the motorway? Every time I'm on the M8, I'm passing 206's, Yaris', i10's, etc. All "city cars" but I'd never pass a second thought about them being on a motorway. If you need to get somewhere, and the motorway is the way, what does it matter what car it is as long as it gets you from A to B.

Most cars regardless of fuel type are so competent that there are very few "city cars". The Dacia Spring is about the closest to one these days but it is the exception. The Inster is a different kettle of fish, great on the motorway, decent enough range and plenty of space inside. Wheelbase is the same as a Mk6 Golf.

I see a lot of cars being dismissed as city cars, there is often butthurt in these comments, people who have spent much more on a larger car will try to justify their purchase.

Very neat job Digitaldr. I thought to source some of the fabric to make seat covers… but would have to be 100% match to put some on the doors if it would fit. Maybe plain brown? Does the vinyl tuck around at back?

I'd guess not, ready to be peeled off by bored kids in the back sometime. :)

what do you access on? I’m on iphone and Boards has been bordering on unusable for months now, links, quotes, scrolling etc. One ‘good’ bug perhaps is that if you spend more than a min or two typing a message the ‘post’ button goes dead, so brevity is encouraged :)

Back OT, I’m amazed at the mileage people see, including motorway, that’s v impressive to be fair. It’s the car the e-Up should’ve been.

Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk, I'm not sure how easy the wrap is to remove (heat would probably help) and the factory finish seems to be painted on. Also the wood effect wrap is probably not intended for car use and it has stronger adhesive.

It was my first time wrapping anything and it was much easier than I expected. The large plastic screws were actually pretty tight - a €2 coin worked very well as a removal tool. They are purely decorative - you'll find a regular philips screw underneath. Finally they were some clips to pop out - sorry I only have a picture of the door and not the insert! Note that the clip at the right end in the picture slots into the door so the insert needs to be pulled to the left to get it out if that makes sense!

    5c82949e-93f9-40cd-9a7c-4a565fdee8db-1_all_120048.jpg 5c82949e-93f9-40cd-9a7c-4a565fdee8db-1_all_120046.jpg

Next I cleaned the insert with some isopropyl alcohol - probably not necessary but I reckoned it would improve adhesion. Then I very roughly cut some wrap with scissors to the approximate size of the insert by just laying it on top. For the wood effect stuff I tried to get the grain going in roughly the right direction. Then I peeled of the backing and starting at one end applied the wrap, paying particular attention to folding it around the edges and pressing it down well - a hairdryer comes in handy here for softening the wrap slightly. The rounded ends were the trickiest part - again the hairdryer helped. Once everything was stuck down OK I trimmed the excess at the back with a snap off blade knife, making sure to cut around the plastic tabs. Finally I cut out circles about 5mm from the outside edge for the door inserts and using the hairdryer folded the edges in.

I wasn't sure what wrap to choose so I ordered a selection as they were very cheap - dark and light wood, orange and green - all matte. Unfortunately I ran out of light wood after 3 inserts so tried out the green stuff which actually looks very well. Anyway when I get back from holidays next week I'll post a video of me removing the green wrap and replacing it with the wood effect stuff which I see has been delivered from Aliexpress (delivery times are much better than they used to be - around 10 days).

    DELETED

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭digitaldr

Since the edges aren't exposed they'd have a hard time peeling it off!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭digitaldr

If you could get hold of fabric wrapping it around the edges would probably make the insert too big to fit back into the door and trying to cut it neatly to match the exact size would be very difficult.

Brown might work maybe even with a leather texture but personally I would avoid trying to match the colour of the daashboard as going for a slight contrast usually works better than an imperfect match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭cobham

I must try this… if all fails I would if there is clearance for a fabric finish? So it is like the Contact stuff available in DIY shops, sticky backed?

Yep - sticky backed. I was assuming you were trying to get hold of seat fabric but if you're considering self adhesive fabric wrap from Aliexpress it might fit but the gap is pretty tight.
