All the things you describe are like lizard reflexes, but that doesn't mean he isn't actually going senile.

His whole slock is "whatever is the norm I'm against it", which the lazy and discontent lap up. The only pattern seem to be where he introduces a new chaos at the start of each week, probably after something he saw on TV or something someone uttered within earshot over the weekend.

I'd call it instinctual rather strategic thinking.

As I can't see inside his head [don't want to see the proof of TDS] I don't know for certain if Trump thinks that you have to to deconstruct to reconstruct but looking at the present year Project 2025 plan which he denies exists but which his followers are following faithfully, he is deconstructing the country known as the United States right around its citizens. It's been around now for almost 250 years but not much longer if Trump has his madness succeed. The proof is there for all to see on the streets of LA and California. He's given his spoken approval to his goon squad leader to arrest the elected governor of that state.

He doesn't seem to know what day it is! Someone should check his cognitive decline.

Stumbling on steps, not knowing what day it is, family history of dementia..... just sayin'

It's been 2 weeks since he gave Putin another 2 weeks. TACO time again!

He also has 30 days left for the 90 deals in 90 days. So only 90 deals to go!

Seeing as these kinds of zingers and reactive moments are his whole political persona, he may be entirely lizard brain, and so senility wouldn't come into it.

Could Trump become senile in the next three years? I wouldn't say that's impossible. Is he senile right now? I see little evidence of it. When Biden was declining, his public appearances became more coached and limited, needing a teleprompter to deliver even relatively short speeches. Trump just got up and did a whole hour at Fort Bragg the other day, and he's always doing WH press briefings and those weird little Oval Office summits. This doesn't really fit with the idea of a man who has to be coached and cossetted in order to hide a rapidly deteriorating mental condition.

They've issued a travel advisory for Italy and Switzerland. Apparently the terrorists are rampant.

I think he's already senile. His personality and charisma just cover it up quite well and even if they didn't, corporate media and the Heritage Foundation have too much to gain by publicising his cognitive decline. In other words, whether or not he's senile doesn't matter. Project 2025 is going ahead and if Trump dies, Vance is there to take over.

But a whole hour of what at Fort Bragg?

When Micheal Martin went to the White House Trump spoke for 55 minutes, Martin 6. All Trump did was riff on whatever chaos he was pushing that week. Attack and keep pushing, attack and keep pushing, then in the next week attack someone/something else and repeat.

We all know that that's it for the rest of his term, although it might slow down to fortnightly rather than weekly. All his utterances are primal emotional entreaties to his loyal base so they don't need to be coherent.

Actual senility, i.e. dementia, means a concerning and increasing inability to complete various basic mental tasks like remembering previously familiar places, people and things. Inability to do basic self care. A general confusion and inability to process the basic information of every day living, like knowing the time.

Once Biden was put in an unscripted scenario last June, his deterioration was glaringly obvious. At times, he failed to even string basic thoughts together and looked completely vacant afterward (thinking particularly of the 'we beat Medicaid' bit). I've seen that same vacant expression with relatives of my own, as I'm sure others here have where you can tell they're not all in there at that time. Haven't seen that with Trump yet.

    Just a reminder folks.

Elon said the Epstein files contain damaging material for Trump....

Easy to forget that in the current maelstrom

Right but it's not a binary situation. Compare Trump speaking in the 2000's or even in the past decade to today and the decline is obvious. He can barely construct sentences or stay even remote focused. We also do not know what's going on behind the scenes as well.

He looked pretty focused and articulate when he was berating Zelensky at the White House a few months back. I didn't agree with any of what Trump was saying, mind, but of all the thoughts I had about it, one was not 'obvious cognitive decline'.

There have been a lot of whistle blowers on Trump since the start of his last administration who had worked closely with him. Out of all of them, the overwhelming message has been that he's an ignorant, narcissistic blowhard who is bent on vengeance and personal glorification, but words about overall cognitive function don't get much of a look in. I do not say it's never been suggested or claimed by anyone that he is going that way, but the floodgates don't seem to have opened as they have on Biden, and there would be a lot of interest to get rid of Trump within and without the Republican party and they'd be only too happy to stick the knife in on this basis if there was real grounds to do so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,207 ✭✭✭✭ancapailldorcha

Did he? He was rabbiting on about cards and Zelenskyy not wearing a suit for what most people would assume are obvious reasons. Trump at his core is a racist, a bully and a con-man. The only reason I wasn't thinking about Trump's decline at the time was because I was disgusted at his behaviour.

I could offer my own examples of course from injecting bleach to Haitians eating dogs and cats to confusing Biden with Obama to talking about how we could see World War 2.

700 bloody Marines on standby for what is a bit of a protest. Much worse in N Ireland band the police are dealing with it.

But of course California would no longer exist only for him.

All his Oval office ambushes are prepared, with a supporting cast of grinning goons smiling manically behind Trump and throwing in unsubstantiated dogs at their victim.

No foreign representative other than netenyahu expects a warm oval office reception.

Hes just done what he's been doing for the last 8 years.

He's said the quiet part out loud. And his useful idiots defend him by saying 'what he really meant was violent protest is illegal' but that's not what he really meant, he really meant what he really said, like he's been doing this entire time.

Most 'respectable' republican politicians are careful to cover up their true intentions with weasel words and platitudes. Trump just says the quiet part out loud.

Protest in the US is now illegal unless its protesting against something Trump wants them to protest about.

Covering your faces is illegal, unless you're a thug working for ICE disappearing people from their school or workplace or off the side of the road

Causing violent disorder is a crime, unless you're shooting innocent peaceful unarmed people in the face with rubber bullets or trampling them with horses

The right to free assembly has been revoked, the right to privacy is long gone, your data, all of it, will be aggregated and used by the US fascist government as a weapon against you. If you have ever been a leader of any group who organise to oppose fascism, you are now on a list.

I don’t think it’s helpful to talk about cognitive decline - no matter who it’s about Trump or Biden.

As for Elon and the Epstein accusation - we can’t believe a thing from him either. He clearly needs a stint in rehab.

Trump's close relationship with Epstein is well documented. Of course a claim from Musk is not proof but it's not exactly detached from reality either.

I wasn't approaching it from a senility point of view actually, didn't even mention that. Haven't seen any indication of him going that way at all.

Literally thinking of his physical health in general. When you start getting into your late 70s / early 80s it can decline very rapidly. Those Air Force One steps aren't exactly shallow. We all know at that age, 'falling over' becomes 'had a fall'.

    I’m not saying it is.

    Musk is not credible though.

I suppose if you're already known as a complete moron who can barely string a few coherent thoughts together and who is functionally illiterate, it can be difficult to detect the difference between normal and late stage dementia

Its quite revealing that everyone who constantly proclaimed that there was absolutely nothing wrong with Bidens cognitive ability are entirely convinced that Trump is senile or has dementia without a shred of proof.

In fact anyone who even questioned that Biden wasnt as sharp as a tack was accused of spreading conspiracy theories.

    Very revealing.

Is it jut me, or is this whole thing beginning to look like a prelude to the plot of the movie Civil War? California (and Texas in the movie) against an authoritarian federal government.

He didn't say anything that wasn't already suspected / circulated in the public domain and has produced precisely no additional evidence. As it stands he may as well have accused him of the Kennedy assassination, the Great Train Robbery and being Lord Lucan in a rubber mask.

    Without a shred of proof?

And very few people said there was 'absolutely nothing wrong with Biden'

Most people during the election campaign were saying something like 'Biden is in decline, but so is Trump'
