I didn't think it would go as high as 500's. I'm in 200's batch 4 and not even expecting to be called. Is this competition ending in November?

Hi there, I’m hoping cos people that have passed have stopped posting altogether that they’re all placed. Wishful thinking 🙂

Hey I found out last Wednesday I was placed 5th for Dublin. I’ve heard nothing since , not even an email from clearance asking for vetting or references etc. I’ve also been tagged for my department so I’m really hoping to be kept !

I also a colleague who was due to have her interview yesterday was told late Tuesday it was postponed and has heard nothing since !
If I hear anything more I will come back with an update.

I’m waiting to be called for interview and was hoping to hear from anyone who has already gone through it.

What to expect in terms of structure and questions

    How best to prepare

Any particular competencies or areas they focused on

Tips for handling the strengths-based and/or situational questions

Any guidance you can share would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks in advance, congrats to those who have passed and are waiting for a location and best of luck to everyone in the process.

Thanks so much. You’re a bit good ahead of me so would be great to hear when you’re contacted. Hope your friend gets her interview soon!

    Hi Every one,

I was placed 133 in batch three. Does any one know how far in to batch 3 they are?

I was also recently diagnosed with ADHD and mild autism. Since I was only recently diagnosed I haven't informed public jobs yet. My colleagues said that since the diagnosis was made after I submitted my application, there is no point in sharing my diagnosis it will not be taken in to consideration since I as diagnosed after I submitted my application. Can any one please advise?

Personally, I would say nothing. You have no obligation here.

It may be very well that it will be too far advanced into the competition at this stage for them to take it into consideration but nonetheless if I were you, I would contact PAS and inform them of your recent diagnosis.

From reading this thread, it is my understanding that they are inviting 75 people at a time for interview. I was among the first 75 from Batch 3 to be interviewed in early May. (Batch 3.1).

I'd imagine the next batch to be invited for interview will be the next 75 from batch 3 (batch 3.2).

I could be completely wide off the mark here though!

Have a look at the job spec. Public Jobs has a disability champion.

interviews are tailored to the application form you submitted. Study that is the best advice I can give. What I was asked is not what others were asked in my office. All were different.

Tell them, you are allowed accommodation for having disabilities

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 118 ✭✭CivilCybil

I would think it depends on what accommodations you need.

They don't necessarily need to know about your diagnosis, just about what you need from them to accommodate your disability although you may need to explain it's a recent diagnosis etc.

As a disabled person in the civil service I always just request online interviews (which they usually are now anyway but just in case!) and I've disclosed that I am disabled to PAS and the disability officer in my department.

I don't need any accommodations day to day but at least I know my disability is on record if I do.

For this, unless you have specific things you need them to accommodate for the interview then I don't think there's much point letting them know.

would anyone have any idea of a HEO Comp for 2025 ? Thanks in advance

be ready for hypothetical questions based on the competencies like how would you lead or communicate in a given circumstance it wasn’t just previous experience they asked me they also asked how I’d deal with certain situations so knowing how to be a good leader , communicator etc helps

There is supposedly an embargo coming in on future competitions. No date given but may be this year at some stage. Our senior management was informed.

thatd be odd surely… there's so many heo vacancies around here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 libravibes76

Happens every time there is a recession. I was surprised to hear it because of the amount of vacancies

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 libravibes76

I thought the same and was surprised. But they do it when there is a recession incoming. The last time they literally gave a few hours notice I was reminded about the other day. It must be happening if higher management have been told

A contraction in public spending has been expected since the end of Covid. The main reason they didn't tighten up last budget, was the election. Also a reduction the frequency and scale of PAS competitions, has been talked about for a while after they went on a frenzy of hiring COs, EOs, AOs, and even APs. However, I doubt it would be a complete embargo like last time. The crash and effect on public finances was incredibly sudden and dramatic. Cant see any slow down this time, being as extreme.

Do you have to go through vetting and references again even if you currently work for the civil service?

How long were you all waiting for interview results?

Hi, I’m 2mths in clearance, no 3. There are a lot of HEO vacancies so why is it taking so long. I’ve emailed clearance but they’ve no updates. Who can be contacted?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 18,339 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

Check with your HR if they've sent it back to PAS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 18,339 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

Maybe vetting if going to Justice and dept needs it, references won't be needed - PMDS will be checked

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 DitzyDorey

Has anyone who was successful in batch 3 been called yet? How long does pre clearance/under consideration take before you get a formal offer?
