Is it worth getting a new underground ESB connection to an existing house

    Refurbishing an existing farmhouse where the existing ESB connection is coming in from a pole to the gable of the house. The house is completely gutted at the moment so the thought crossed my mind if it would be worth installing a new underground connection? I'll want to move the meter internally in any case as it's over the front door at the moment. I assume that can be done as a separate exercise?

    It would offer a slight benefit if you ever planned to fit EWI as it would eliminate a thermal bridge. Depends on cost I would imagine.

    thanks ya farmhouse has thick stone walls so will never be going down the route of EWI. Tempted to leave it alone. New connection fee is 3500. I think it costs about 400e to move a meter. I'd be happy enough at that.

    €450 to move a meter according to an ESB guy I know

    yep sorry - had that confirmed since that its 450. I think that'd be plenty. I can think of plenty of better ways to use to cost of a new connection
