Where to find lots of nettles that preferably aren't covered in dog piss?

Would like to try cook some. Apparently it's like spinach.

    Preferably in the Northside.

Very much not the northside, but at the junction of The Oaks and Hazel Hill in Maryborough Ridge on the southside, there is an elevated hedgerow. There are a huge amount of nettles growing throughout it. None touch the ground so I say you’re good when it comes to dogs. Still, probably best to make sure they aren’t sprayed with anything/touched by anyone

You should be picking only the top few leaves from plants. Dog pee shouldn't be a problem. Also I don't think dogs wade into nettle patches and expose their sensitive parts to nettle stings, anyway. To be safe, avoid the plants at the edge of a patch.

I think washing them first would also be a good idea

Found some and picked a few. Seems to be bugs and eggs on the underside of the leaves. Feck that. Would need to wash them in a car wash to get everything off.

Go to Mizen Head. I found loads of them, easily, by just wearing shorts and short sleeves :( Real stingers.

It's too late in the season for picking, I think.

Butterflies love them for laying eggs as they're great source of food for their larvae and nice and stingy for predators who might eat them.

It's off season for eating nettles, this is nettle season in america where the spring is later, or maybe up in the austrian alps somewhere, but not Cork down at sea-level. They are woody and tough in Ireland now, you need the young fresh growth. Next year, get them the same time of year as wild garlic… Best place to get them is an elderly neighbours' garden, in return for giving them a hand with weeding. ;)
