Competitions run over 2 days

I’m not really a fan of running a single competition over 2 days and not played in many of them. Anyway, just have a query which some of you with experience may be able to shed some light on please.

medal comp run over yesterday and today

i Played today in considerably tougher conditions. I would expect a PCC for today but obviously won’t know until later and all scores in

However as soon as I entered my score, it popped up in Golf Ireland with yesterdays date 31 May and as it was a counting score, it’s already gone green and my handicap has already been cut.

seems odd to me, surely that shouldn’t happen till 1am tonight which is normal and at that point the PC.C would be known. (Of course it’s possible there will be no PCC, but conditions are quite tough today)

is the competition set up correctly? Surely my score should say 1 June?

Sounds like set up incorrectly to me, today's date should definitely be on it

yes I’m pretty sure whenever I’ve played in alternate day comps before, my score was applied with playing date and there was essentially 2 comps set up in the how did I do system

Looks like the resources section on golf Ireland for alternate day comps agree that the days should be kept separate for handicapping alright.

Yeah, the two days should be set up as separate competitions and then closed and aggregated on the second day. Scores on the first day should go straight to GI for handicap purposes. Not sure about PCC, but I find that a bit of a joke anyway since anything that happens on the same day can influence the PCC, like an open competition on different tees on the same day as a members comp.

They should be separate. PCC can vary between days within the same competition.

yes guys I figured as much

    Clubs reply

“This is the way we do it cause it’s easier and golf Ireland are only guidelines”

    🤷‍♂️

I re-read the original post, it's definitely set up wrong. And also in this case anyone playing can check the best score by searching golf ireland friends list and seeing what anyone scored before they go out (if they are out later on the second day). the card / score shouldn't display on Golf Ireland until the comp is closed off on the system and synced to GI (Usually happens overnight). I have seen it a few weeks ago where the PCC was different, on one day there was a PCC and on another there wasn't. While this doesn't affect the result, it does / can affect the cut you receive.

Your score appears on GI within a few minutes of entering it into the system, it doesn't wait until the comp is closed off. Or at least, that's the case at my club. It's only the handicap adjustment that takes until overnight.

We use Masterscoreboard for comps and you can see the current leaderboard at any time for a comp too. I think it's up to the club whether they keep it hidden or have it available.

And for the sake of the topic of the thread, our medals are always over 2 days, and the 2 days are a separate comp on the system. Day 1 is closed out on the Sat night.
