Galway are out if they lose to Derry and Armagh win.

lot of people would have fancied Mayo today just "because".

Not confident enough to put our money where our mouth is, but still not totally surprised by the result.

But definitely delighted with the performance.

the attitude can never be questioned really , great win

Would the Down win over Louth be considered more of a shock than the Mayo win over Tyrone?

I never paid any heed to Down at all to be honest. When the draw was made. Surprised how Louth got caught. I suppose the Rossies nearly caught the Royals. But I had expected that one to be tight.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

down have serious footballers , many touted and played in the afl , they can never seem to get the house in order at senior level but were narrowly beaten by armagh in ulster last year , and pushed donegal all the way this year , no shock at all

Remember Robbie Keane and how people used to say how he only scored against bad teams and even though he smashed the Irish goal scoring record by more than 300% he really wasn't that good ?

And then when he retired Ireland have not come close to finding anyone like him and how much they would kill to have another Robbie Keane playing ?

    Aiden O'Shea is like that.

People, both from within and without Mayo will tell you how overrated he is.

But by God will he be missed when he is no longer there.

Mayo beating tyrone and putting on that performance is the beauty of them and also why so many people write them off.

So unpredictable. Can look mediocre and predictable or play with boundless energy and passion. Also a poster who said basically Ryan ó Donoghue is no good mustnt watch mayo regularly. He's been leading their forwards for the past few years, winning ball, making and taking scores

Meath and down are 2 counties making progress and thriving under the new rules. The likes of Matthew Costello and pat havern would make any team in the country. The fact that down the 7th best team in ulster, based on league positions beat the leinster champions shows how strong ulster is

100 percent on every aspect of that quote .
If that man was utilized correctly and small teeeks in game play and his own game , he would have had one of the highest assists for goals in the modern game . A pity but too late for him now but a serious outfit of man to contest a ball.

Cork are still in the All Ireland championship despite losing 3 games between provincial championship and their 2 group games so far. In 2026 it'll be 3 strikes and Cork are out!!!

Massive results yesterday for Mayo firstly who needed the win and Down as well, the Tailteann winners now in pursuit of a group win and quarter finals.

Ehh…I'd say it could, and was very well questioned after their last game in Castlebar!

mayo had gone from 1 point up to 4 before the pen and had weathered the Tyrone comeback from the goal. They mad some good substitutions when in trouble. David Neary looks like a good footballer

It's interesting that Nearys background seems a bit different to the other players. A former European kickboxing champion when he was younger. Seems to have a more direct, off the cuff approach and less predictable in his movement. Possibly due to being less coached at underage level than other players.

Half of the teams lost their only game in the Provincials. Major jeopardy there, with only a place in the Provincial final being of any benefit later on. Cork also lost games in the League, which is another feeder into the AI series. It has no relevance to the performance of teams in the groups. Everyone knows that it is possible to progress with just one win.

Much jubilation in some quarters that a minor change is happening next year, but in the real world it means very little. Everyone in Division 2 will still have to avoid relegation to have a chance of being in Sam, and even teams finishing higher can lose out. Four Leinster counties there next year, which gives some hope of a bit of a loosening of the Ulster dominance. But Down, like Westmeath before them as Tailteann winners could very well find themselve out of Sam again.

Joe Brolley hit the nail on the head with his remarks about cork in todays sunday lndo.

    100%

His biggest problem is he can’t make two of himself. One to catch the ball out around the middle and kick it in. The other to be inside then to catch it .

Oh and maybe play full back as well :D

    He is spot on.

No problem with what he said about Cork Football. Just pity he has get personal about players etc.

For a woke guy he utter hypocrite in that sense. But he done it for years so not going stop now.

He's one of these players who seems to have always been judged for what he isn't rather than what he is. The amount of work he gets through and the way he always tries to do the right thing for the team with and without the ball is so underappreciated. I've the height of respect for him. He comes across as a good egg any time I've heard him being interviewed as well.

Both Down and Roscommon were favourites with the bookies yesterday. Roscommon slight favourites while Down were more heavy favourites.

We were poor yesterday. So open at the back, could have conceded 5 goals in the first half while never really looking like scoring one ourselves. Some very basic errors at times like 5 yard handpasses going astray. But we still managed to get the result we needed to make the knockout stages. Hopefully, we can do enough against Kerry to get a home draw (barring another sensational win). Still a young team with some good U20s coming through, so our current issues are fixable in time.

Galway defense awful so far. Wide open down the middle and diving in on tackles, then on the back foot once it's missed.

Good start to this game. Galway ringing changes already. Hard luck on Sam O Neill really who was doing ok, but they needed to get D'Arcy on.

Strong wind at croke park from the hill to canal end. Wouldn’t expect many two pointers towards the hill.

Cavan donegal is tight as well

From the radio it sounds like M. Murphy is lucky to be still on the pitch. Anyone see it?

Great to see Mayo back in the hunt ,its wide open this year and Rachford is due a rub of the green .He is a great manager in my book ,just unlucky on several occasions to not get Mayo over the line

What's the story with the TV rights? Only 1 game today, with the 2pm game on the GAAGO? I thought RTE had rights to 2 Sunday games every week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 711 ✭✭✭Krazy gang

Derry galway a real championship match here. Great endorsement for the round Robin

Derry by far the better team all game. If they don’t win this they will have a lot of regrets
