RFK now saying federal scientists might not be allowed to be published in peer reviewed journals. Instead he wants it to be in house government publications... Keep getting reminded of the brain drain of Nazi Germany ATM.. Everything is fine though!

The Felonious POTUS does seem to have a thing for letting criminals he likes off the hook. Was kind of dumbstruck when I heard he pardoned that Ulbricht fellow.🤷

Trumps tariffs have cost global companies 34 billion and counting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,094 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

It seems that the location Trump chose to make the increased Steel and Aluminium tariff charges yesterday was a a US steel plant in Pittsburgh that is in the process of being sold to a Japanese Steel corporation, Nippon Steel. Trump, during the period he was out of office, opposed the purchase and Biden blocked it. Now Trump has no problem with the deal between a foreign company, Nippon Steel, buying what is described as an iconic US plant.

It is the standard practice of foreign companies which have bought out other companies, home and abroad, to asset-strip the newly purchased Co and transfer the assets to the mother-country of the purchaser.

Due to his flip-flops, it would not be wise to presume that any product made at any Nippon Steel plant in Japan or elsewhere outside the US will be liable to the latest tariff increases Trump has put on all imported steel and aluminium.

To put it into contrast, the US has collected $68 billion in tariffs so far this year. They need another $2332 billion to get rid of income tax (one of the reasons Trump brought in tariffs) That means Trump needs to increase tariffs 11 fold! Then again he stated they were collecting $2 bil a day, which is obviously bullshit.

We won't get into the trillions lost in the Trump slump!

The US was never any of those things though. Since ww2 they constructed a narrative which sold that story to the world. In reality they were like an invasive species, wreaking havoc in every corner of the world just to further their interests.

In One way I'm glad Trump got in, cos it lifted the mask on what the US really is and how it's people view the rest of us. It's time we moved on. They have created more global instability and death since the end of the war than any other nation apart from Stalins Soviet Union.

If they want to reintegrate with the world in future. It should be on our terms, not theirs.

In the latest episode of "could you imagine if Biden said this?". Nothing will be said of course because the media have normalised his insanity. More interested in keeping their press passes than their integrity.

well, if Trump says that he was treated ‘VERY UNFAIRLY ‘ by the courts then he will have GIVEN HIMSELF sufficient grounds to pardon him - is that not the playbook that’s used in all of his decisions

Again, I'm absolutely astounded that Trump can endorse a claim that Biden was replaced by clones, that his deep end MAGA supporters then share amongst themselves as proof; but all serious commentators, all Senators and Representatives, all normal people just somehow gloss over, never comment on, just dismiss as Trump being Trump.

He dogwhistles to his base in plain view, and everyone is later shocked that they are ill informed. This claim should be brought up in every interview with every Republican Senator or Govt Secretary; saying is this true, do you believe it, what have you said not the President regards this!

It's like the autopen claim. No-one followed up on it seriously l, so the MAGA base still repeat it as a genuine thing.

So, if I'm clear on this, MAGA's position is

    1) Biden was mentally incapacitated, had "handlers" and made no decisions

    2) Biden made all the decisions, was incompetent and ran the economy into the ground

    3) there was no Biden, he was replaced by a clone.

    Gotcha!

So will they now drop the horrible claim that they hid Biden's cancer for years?

MAGA has more in common with a religion than a political or economic ideology. Trump is God and the rest is just details.

It must be deeply hurtful to Biden that after a more than adequate presidency, which was possibly better than many people admit, and at worst was harmless, he goes into his final few months a victim of Trump's spite and mania. They don't have to say nice things about him, just leave him alone and in some sort of peace.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,173 ✭✭✭✭ancapailldorcha

If they had that kind of decency, they wouldn't be MAGA. They need something to blame their panoply of failures on and Biden had the temerity to beat Trump in 2020. He could die this afternoon and they'd be blaming him a year from now.

Prior associations can harm your chance of an extra job courtesy of the President.

Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he withdrew the candidacy of billionaire and associate of Elon Musk, Jared Isaacman, for the head of the NASA space agency. "After a thorough review of prior associations, I am hereby withdrawing the nomination of Jared Isaacman to head NASA. I will soon announce a new Nominee who will be mission aligned, and put America first in space," Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social.

The NYT linked the withdrawal of the appointment to donations Isaacman made to the Democratic Party. Trump will deny the report on his "it's the NYT" basis. Not withstanding that, it's obvious that the GOP doesn't apply the same rule to other former donors to the Democrats when it comes to jobs for their boy.

No if they want to go down the "robot" line, they might just have a look at Scott Bessent……….a more robot like Individual it would be hard to find. When he talks the only thing that moves are his lips.

Wondr if Vance knows how many of those "American citizens" were immigrants, who brought their knowledge of rocket engine design with them from post-war Europe?

Wernher von Braun, technical director of the German V2 rocket project [+ his brother and 100 other German rocket-development team technicians] surrendered to US troops in 1945 and then moved to the US where he got a naturalized citizenship in 1955 while working at White Sands, New Mexico.  “After all,” he said, “if we are good, it’s because we’ve had 15 more years of experience in making mistakes and learning from them!” Vance, and Trump, would probably not have that other German-connection fact mentioned.
