Calm yourself bishop. I know they haven't agreed to it yet. I was responding to her projections. I will edit. "Next ceasefire by Israel"

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

I'd be hoping this morning that Hamas see sense, and indeed Israel and the US. This needs action now, what's to consider?

Hamas are not the key player here : it is the state of Israel. Nobody is 'making' Israel relentlessly bomb Gaza every evening, nor deliberately starve and displace the civilian population etc. Israeli armed forces outnumber Hamas (a relatively poorly armed militia) by about ten to one.

    I don't know. I hope there is a ceasefire asap. It's a horror show.

Bear in mind though that preventing humanitarian aid is a breach of IHL no matter what is happening in the war. Ceasefire or no ceasefire. There are no circumstances whatsoever where humanitarian aid can be prevented/withheld. It was very very wrong of Israel to use food and medicine as a weapon of war.

Lads, I think you have lost the plot. I asked it this morning to gauge the feeling about Hamas having the final say as to whether this ceasefire comes into place or not and being the only representation of Gazans. So far all I've heard is but Israel, even if there's a ceasefire it will be Israel.....lalala, basically stuck and won't move or commit to criticising Hamas for delaying this. I've work to do, let yiz sort your own minds out and answer the question for once without going but Israel..……..

But Hamas are not 'making' Israel bomb Gaza to smithereens every evening, keep displacing the population and stop humanitarian aid going in to a starving population. You're speaking as if Israel are somehow powerless in all this and have 'no choice' but to keep committing multiple war crimes and probable genocide.

Have a lot at the international media at the moment - everyone is focussed on what is happening with Israel and Netanyahu, nobody is talking about Hamas…..ALL of the power lies with the Israeli state, certainly not with the much smaller Hamas.

Hamas are not the key player here

Definitely one of the key players. Doesn't matter how you try to twist it.

They are one of the players, but the news at the moment is not about clashes between Hamas and the IDF. The international news cycle is being completely dominated by the Israel's war crimes against civilians and the forced starvation of the population. Saying that these war crimes are being caused by Hamas would be disingenous.

Ah will you relax. Israel only signed off on the deal yesterday.

Ok I condemn Hamas fully for delaying the signing of whatever deal was presented yesterday. Happy now?

Please reply to my post directly on the one way ceasefire part or the humanitarian aid part. You know I am right.

I really want the hostages returned as an absolute priority. It will remove Israel's excuse for the genocide.

Yet it seems we are waiting for Hamás stance on ceasefire proposal..

For sure, there needs to be two sides to agree to a ceasefire. But there is a massive imbalance between the two sides. The Israeli military are ten times the size of Hamas and have an army, navy and air force. All of the focus in the international media is on what Israel are doing in Gaza. They are the ones who prosecuting a war against Hamas and mostly against the civilian population of Gaza, not the other way around…..very few IDF personnel are dying and absolutely zero Israeli civilians.

The IDF downed a missile fired from Yemen in the sixth Houthi attack on Israel this week. Warning sirens and push notifications were issued, prompting millions of people to take shelter in bomb shelters. The Israel State Cup soccer final had to be briefly halted. The Houthis claimed they were targeting Ben Gurion Airport.

Awww the poor Israelis had to briefly halt a soccer match. Poor things.

No wonder some media have stopped reporting these minor incidents - its really a little bit of nothing compared to what Palestine is going through.

I guess we have to wait with what that bunch of brainwashed religious fanatics will come up with..

The Israelis will do what the Israelis always do.

If you try to look at the situation objectively without taking sides- Hamas are unlikely to agree to a ceasefire that means once the hostages are all released Israel is free to continue the war. A fair proposal would be that Israel will agree to end the war and commit to a two state solution in return Hamas agrees to release all the hostages and go into exile. If this solution were to be on the table and Hamas rejected it then it would be on them. Likewise it was on Israel when Bibi broke the previous ceasefire because he needed the far right head bangers back in Government to pass a budget. Some pro Israeli posters here are in denial about that because nothing is ever Israel's fault in their world

I think as part of an agreement Hamas would have to be disbanded too and The PA perhaps temporarily take charge of Gaza. With more settlements being approved I can't see Israel working towards a two state solution.

Hence there's still that same question hanging in the air. Why Hamás basically committed suicide (well not for all of them, because leadership needs to sit in wealth somewhere to make sure of sufferings for others) for themselves and for some significant numbers of Palestinians? I don't really buy into numbers of army personnel presented on each side and number of casualties. You can't really blame Israel for using their guns to avoid their own possible casualties. Why would you risk lives of your own people or soldiers, if there are other ways. Now saying that, I don't for sure, support the way conflict is being dealt with. Nor do I support settlements etc. Just saying.

Why would Hamas accept anything? Sure anything Hamas does is Israels fault.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,094 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

Like all the bad actions taken by Israel are the fault of Hamas, I suppose. Israel deciding to steal more land after this conflict in the West Bank will be blamed on Hamas too.

Theres 2 groups of brainwashed religious fanatics in the region in this conflict - still not sure which one you are referring to.

hmmmm………bit of detritus flying about concerning The Beeb on the wires.

Seems a percentage of their ‘reportage’ can be considered not quite accurate despite being lauded and being proffered as the outlet of ‘truth’ disseminated by the constants on this thread.

    Two serious turn overs recently…………….uhmmmmmm

Incorrect Pjohnson, both Israel and Hamas are accountable for their actions- which is why leaders on both sides have been indicted by the ICC. The problem is you can't brook any criticism of Israel. This is why you will no doubt continue to hide behind sarcastic comments, but that's the truth of it.

Actually I stand corrected; you did once condemn the IDF for killing sheep.

When you wage a war against a civilian population, you don't get to play the victim because your football match got slightly delayed.

Its very easy to be tough guys when you have an 'iron dome' that allows you to strike others with impunity.

Its pathetic. There are children lying in agony in half demolished hospitals having their shattered limbs amputated without aesthetic because your 'defence forces' are dropping thousands of tonnes of high explosives onto them every night.

The people of Israel have somewhere to hide when their air raid siren goes off for attacks that don't even reach their targets. The people of Gaza are cowering in tents as explosions go off all around them every single night.

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

Of course it’s tragic, however people like you plastering it over social media doesn’t really change anything. Using the death of an infant to further your ideals is frankly disgusting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,094 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

Telling the truth of what happening in Gaza should be everyone's agenda.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,545 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

Swapping accounts of atrocities and using them on social media to further ones ‘ideals’ should be on nobodies agenda, my friend.

Very bad decision taken here to to try go down that road.

Hopefully common sense will surface ……..

I have no problem with Israel publishing accounts of the October attack or the Gazans doing the same.
