one Gets the impression from some posters that The EU/ Europe is not yet ready to go to war with Russia AND WIN while other posters state that Poland would wipe RU ‘ off the map’ - outside of the use fclear warheads- in a few days. I sure that if Poland did go to war with Russia that if it needed ‘a little help’ from some ofthe other European states that they would not be found wanting

    So which is it?

@Field east "So which is it?"

Ultimately the collapse of Russia no matter what they do. War with anyone else will just expediate the process.

It looks like history is starting up again.

"One of the monsters that led part of the attacks on Mariupol, Zaur Gurtsiev blew himself up with a grenade... now there's no need to shorten the sleeves and legs of the decorated uniform 🖕"

Not sure what's going on here-

Other reports say it was a planted explosive. Either way one less monster.

I'm pretty sure Gandhi was LONG gone by the time India developed nuclear weapons.

That quote comes from a gaming meme from one of the earlier Civilisation games. Ghandi is one of the in-game world leaders and if you manage to get his «Agression» stats to a certain level you might get him to start sending Nuclear threats to the other states.

Stalin and Putin seem very similar to me; two thugs without any real ideology.

Putin plays to the nationalists people who pine for the great days of the Russian empire (whenever the fcuk that was) but its really about control and money.

Lenin on the other hand was all about the ideology. Statue below is in the USA of all places

China isn't going to stop NK using nukes. NK is not beholding to China, it's all in with Orcistan. How do you think they went from peasant agrarian to nukes and ICBMs in next to no time? It was the Orcs giving them the tech.

SK should have launched a nuke building program the minute there was intel NK had spun up the centrifuges.

I said this 3 years ago and nothing has eventuated to make me reconsider; that Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Australia and Ukraine, should all form an alliance to develop and manufacture nukes and at least one delivery mechanism.

You could probably add Norway to that list, but those lotus eaters don't realise the target their resources paint on them, given Orc proclivities.

LOL. I wonder if old Vlad got into the Christmas spirit as much as the folks in Seattle certainly do in December.

    image.png

Edit: Its actually for sale according to Wikipedia

Since 1995, the statue has been held in trust waiting for a buyer, standing on temporary display for the last 30 years on a prominent street corner in Fremont. It has become a local landmark, frequently being either decorated or vandalized.

The statue has sparked political controversy, including criticism for being communist chic and not taking the historic meaning of Leninism and communism seriously (or taking it too seriously), or by comparing the purported acceptance of such a charged political symbol to the removal of Confederate monuments and memorials.

Much of the debate ignores the statue's private ownership and installation on private property, with the public and government having virtually no say in the matter.

Hey, Xmas was always a great time in Fremont. Lenin was decorated, the Troll as well (not in Fremont but walking distance.) Lots of good coffee shops in Fremont.

”China has halted sales of Mavic drones to Ukraine and other European countries but continues supplying them to Russia, where production lines even include Chinese personnel" - Zelensky.

But yeah apparently some here would almost side with China. This country (dictatorship) has singlehandedly kept Russia in the fight.

Berlin is expected to provide Ukraine with the technical components needed to build and maintain its own long-range weaponry, including missiles and cruise missiles, with a range of up to 2,500 km.

Germany plans to invest €5 billion in the initiative, including funding for new ammunition and military aid.

Decoded, this means Ukraine will be equipped so they can manufacture Taurus cruise missiles.

For those who don't follow these things and regularly state Europe is not stepping up.

Ukraine doesn't need inferior Chinese designs anymore. Their own drones are more sophisticated, carry heavier loads and have a greater range (Baba Yaga for example).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,815 ✭✭✭Apiarist

Ah yes, but China's move is still very bad. Ukraine probably doesn't make all the bits, like batteries and small motors.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,583 ✭✭✭✭Say my name

The trend is noticed. First Trump's US and he made large noise about stopping supply to Ukraine on his campaign trail and now who were supposed to be neutral, but is firmly pro Putin, China.

If people boycott Chinese goods then Amazon will suffer.

Not necessarily true at all. The observation, reconnaissance and intel gathering drones are way more sophisticated than the ordnance droppers.

DJI enterprise drones can have RTK high precision GPS allowing the position of the drone to be known to just a few cm. Combined with a 36x optical and digital zoom and laser range finders, and you have a drone that can be a couple km from troops or vehicles of interest - unseen and unheard - given the drones position being known, the laser rangefinder lets the operator know the exact coordinates of anything in the cameras crosshairs, so with dialled in artillery and mortars they can often hit targets with the first round. There are tales of Ukrainian artillery hitting rapidly moving vehicles given location, heading and speed estimates from these targeting drones.

All this can also be done in absolute darkness as these drones also have thermal cameras and now even light amplification for imaging from available starlight.

These sorts of drones cost €6K and up, usually more than double that.

Just as the Orcs seem to have no problem getting around sanctions, I think Ukraine will also be able to as well. There's also Autel making such drones, but they are Chinese as well so they may soon be told to stop supplying Ukraine also.

I have every confidence Ukraine can add these techs to drones of their own manufacture eventually, but if any of the vitals are only made in China, they could have problems.

It was mind bending on here recently reading posters say we should go all in with China because Trump was annoying them. Xi makes Trump look like an alter boy. The guy is a complete scumbag.

Is there a change there (?). I suppose if they are restricting the sales to Europe as well to try and further choke Ukraine that's a new development, but not unexpected unfortunately.

I think as the US pulls back from support of Ukraine over time and throws bones to Putin, I fear we may see more and bolder activity from China (and others) in support of Russia. I mean, why not? We know the US under current admin. doesn't care, and they may even welcome it.

They (DJI) have not been selling to Ukraine or Russia afair.

Of course that's in reality only a restriction on Ukraine, as Russia can get almost any sort of Chinese drones (and parts) it wants in vast quantities for the war (once they can pay) by dealing direct with their "unlimited friends" in the Chinese govt. - certainly any commercial-level drones & components.

They just have to fit their own bomb for now, if they want to use it directly as a weapon!

To me it appears drones are playing a continuously increasing role in the war in Ukraine so to support Ukraine, its allies need to focus on reducing the ability of putin's terrorists to use these weapons. Ukraine has hit production facilities for these weapons in the russian federation but they can't strike directly at China and now they are proven to be supporting putin's war effort more directly something should be done. The idea of secondary sanctions or tariffs being applied to any country found to be supplying the technology putin's terrorists need to stay in the fight has to be considered by allies of Ukraine and the threat of these may well reduce what China is willing to allow be sent in support of putin's terrorist state as they attack westward towards the EU.

Not true. If Ukraine could they'd buy a lot off China. The added bonus being drones to Ukraine equals less drones to Russia. Russia seems to be getting more drones minimised lately and China the evil bastard's play a huge roll in this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 686 ✭✭✭Bitcoin

    Nonsense.

It was Ukraine that revolutionised drone warfare through reconnaissance. It was Ukraine who first attached droppable munitions to drones. It was Ukraine who pioneered the highly effective suicide drone. It was Ukraine who first came up with "dragon's breath". It was Ukraine who first perfected drones that were targeted by a fibre optic line.

Ukraine have always led innovation in drone warfare and will continue to do so. They are the real experts on the field, not the orcs, nor the Chinese.

Europe needs to be ready for the inevitable conflict with russia, but why do you think the response to russia taking a swing at Europe will involve a nuclear response?

With a nuclear response, there is no "ctrl+z". That mushroom cloud means any diplomatic playbook gets tossed out. Conventional armies can move around and gives diplomatic wiggle room, a nuke does not.

Fingers crossed I’m never proven wrong, but I just cannot imagine any scenario where the eventual conflict between russia and Europe will involve any nuclear deployments.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 17,150 Mod ✭✭✭✭Manic Moran

That's not what I said, though. Nukes provide a certain defensive level of insurance of survival, at least from external forces. If North Korea, for example, takes a crack at the South and loses, what's the worst that happens? The RoK is unlikely to march on Pyongyang: If Kim feels he's got nothing left to lose, why not use the nukes? It's likely to keep the RoK on their side of the border, more or less. Same with Russia. I doubt they would use a nuclear warhead to protect Kaliningrad, if Putin fears the West may attempt to depose him?

Trump's envoy to Ukraine recognises one of Russia's root causes as a security concern. To his credit Trump did express this as a main reason for the conflict before he was elected. Tragic that this was constantly rejected over the last 30 years, could of saved a lot of lives.

Trump says a lot of things, most of which are not true including this... Strange that Putin kept likening himself to Peter The Great post the invasion. Doesn't exactly align with defensive....
