The 46 F/A-18s Australia offered Ukraine have just as good ad hoc runway capabilities and they could have had them in the air more than a year prior to them getting their first F-16.

Meh I wouldn't go that far especially since its a civilian not a military aircraft. That being said the orcs are the ones that shot down MH17 10 years ago and only months ago crippled another civilian aircraft that they tried to disappear in the Caspian Sea to hide their fúck up but crashed landed in Kazakhstan killing a lot of people bar those that survived in the tail section. That they're shooting at another civilian aircraft goes to show how inept and dangerous flying in Russia will be for the foreseeable future.

Ok, I though people can use Google, but why not, I can quote pieces of analysis here that show that the budget bill is not just about the budget, it is a power grab. Here you go:

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/hidden-threat-democracy-slipped-trump-171549933.html

    Quote:

“No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued,” reads Section 70302.

When someone violates a court order, the judge who issued the order has the ability to hold them in contempt and issue fines or even jail time as punishment. The provision deep in the massive domestic agenda bill would require anyone suing the government to pay a bond before the court could use its contempt power to enforce an order. This would severely restrict federal courts’ authority to hold officials in contempt if they violate judicial orders.

Just this week, a federal judge found the administration violated a court order barring officials from deporting people to countries that were not their own without giving them sufficient time to contest it. It is not yet clear what the punishment would be. Not only would the bill’s provision restrict the courts’ authority, but it would make court orders issued before the law takes effect unenforceable.

    http://theguardian.com/us-news/2025/may/22/what-is-trump-big-beautiful-bill

A potentially potent restriction on federal courts

Trump’s supporters routinely attack judges who rule against him, and the bill includes a provision that prohibits federal courts from enforcing contempt citations related to temporary restraining orders or preliminary injunctions. At least one federal judge appears ready to issue such a citation in a high-profile immigration case involving the administration. Erwin Chemerinsky, the dean of the University of California, Berkeley’s school of law, wrote that judges could get around the provision for future cases, but hundreds of existing court orders covering all sorts of subjects – including the many lawsuits against Trump’s policies – would become unenforceable.

    https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2025/05/big-beautiful-bill-donald-trump-judges-courts-contempt.html

House Republicans passed a bill that would gut federal judges’ authority to enforce contempt orders—an obvious effort to stop the judiciary from punishing administration officials who disobey the courts.

    You didn't look very hard.

Responding to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi’s remarks about intensifying Russian operations “on all key fronts” — including the start of offensive actions in Sumy and Kharkiv Oblasts — ISW described Russian advances near the Vovodymyrivka–Zhuravka–Novenke line (north and northeast of Sumy) as “gradual but steady.”

In addition to mounting pressure in northern Sumy Oblast, Russia is reportedly trying to push Ukrainian troops out of their remaining positions in Kursk Oblast. Analysts noted that Ukrainian forces withdrew from the town of Sudzha and much of Kursk Oblast in mid-March 2025, but progress has since slowed. Over the past month, Russian forces have shifted their focus to northern Sumy.

It is easier for me to label Trump's actions in relation to Ukraine as simply down to ignorance rather than malicious intent but I do agree with you that the evidence I have seen does point to a deliberate intent on the part of Trump to see putin succeed in achieving a victory in Ukraine. I don't agree with you saying there is no hope for Ukraine without US backing. I don't think the Ukrainians will bow to the wishes of putin or Trump and while EU support could be better it is continuing to improve and along with the ingenuity of the people of Ukraine I think Ukraine will have enough determination to deny putin any sort of victory in his special military operation.

Whether it's true or false has never stopped Putin's propaganda department from publicising it.

Vladimir Putin's helicopter was reportedly near the site of a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Kursk Oblast, according to Kremlin-controlled RIA Novosti on May 25.

According to Yuri Dashkin, commander of an air defense division in Russia’s Kursk Oblast, Ukrainian forces allegedly launched an “unprecedented attack” with drones during Vladimir Putin’s visit to the area on May 20. Dashkin claimed that Russian air defenses shot down 46 drones during the assault.

“We simultaneously conducted anti-aircraft combat and ensured the flight of the president’s helicopter in the air. The helicopter was actually at the epicenter of repelling the massive drone attack,” he said.

    https://english.nv.ua/nation/putin-s-helicopter-reportedly-near-site-of-ukrainian-drone-strike-in-kursk-oblast-50516766.html

Apparently a bare chested emperor Vlad was seen leaning out of his helicopter, with an AK-47 in each fist, and is credited with downing 70% of the drones, none of which reached their targets.

That's today…. Tomorrow he'll be blaming Ukraine for not surrendering or blaming them for putting apartment blocks in the way of missiles.

Reporters need to play on Trumps ego, since Trump took office Putin has upped the missile and drones attacks on Ukraine because Putin was afraid of Biden's response but not afraid of Trump's. Phrase it that way so he can't dismiss it and makes him look weak.

Yeah, a whole two sentences that make sense and don't contain verifiable falsehoods, that's completely out of character. I'm sure he'll soon recover and be back to normal.

I'm still holding out a tiny bit of hope that Rubio is playing 4D chess, playing all sides in order to keep in trumps favor while keeping the focus on Putin as the bad guy, that body language in the oval office said it all

Sadly, reading Steve Rosenberg’s piece on the bbc the other morning, the reality could be that Trump isn’t even linking peace anymore to closer relations with Russia. To be fair, that’s Rosenberg repeating the view of the obviously biased Russian press rather than his own view, but if they are right then it’s a potentially very depressing shift for Ukraine in the war. I guess time will tell, but the way they have stalled for time is a classic Russian move.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1w387gr30ro

In peaceful times, you’d generally welcome closer ties between the US and Russia for stability and peace. But two hour calls between a pair of powerful fascists is disturbing. I don’t know where this is heading.

Not sure if Trump could be any more distanced from the war, or if he could play any more golf. Seems to me he is already peaking in both of those categories. It is just sad that EU hasn't used this period to actually **** do something to help Ukraine, y'know step in like our lives depend on it - which they unfortunately do.

The cryptoboy that posted the photo of the lousy food is Nick Pinto. He gave an interview to CNBC about the meal. There's a tiktok from him somewhere showing the WH tour with lax security, apparently, though I expect any bugs left behind will be swept, right?

He pointed out that a lot of guests had Richard Mille watches, which I guess is the latest in conspicuous consumption captivating the 'more money than sense' group. Perhaps @Wibbs can enlighten us about those watches, are they the most expensive in the world? Most desirable?

Is there a difference between those being killed in Ukr and those being killed in Gaza and the Sudan in Trumps eyes - and especially when it’s mainly US arms / military support that are being used in Gaza?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,267 ✭✭✭ilkhanid

I notice that he still throws Zelensky and Biden into the blameworthy category -their war-as if they shared responsibility with Putin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 941 ✭✭✭Baba Yaga

of course donnie vonshitzinpants views Gaza differently, yer man bibi is clearing it for him and his mates so they can build a few hotels/casinos and golf clubs…
