Irish Radio DJs who would put on American or mid Atlantic accents and adopt Yank sounding monikers (Dusty Rhodes etc) seemed to originate in the pirate stations.

Reading about that Karen's diner place reminded me of my brother talking about a fast food place in Dublin he went to circa 1990. He said they were served by a woman putting on an American accent and asking customers "what dya want buster?" That's all I can recall.
