Running a purebred North Country Cheviot Ram with purebred Cheviot ewes last year as all easy lambing and all lambed on their own

Thinking of changing ram to blue faced lester but would they be easier lambed

    What yous think

I'd stick with what you have. I don't know much about BFL but if you're not having trouble lambing why change would be my thinking.

I should post a bit of reasoning. My flock is I dunno 50/50 blackface and blackface/Wicklow Cheviot. I followed the sales last year and saw lambs out of blackface (mostly) ewes and Texel/Suffolk rams making 10-15 Euro more than my lambs which had NCC rams. I've past experience of Texel and Suffolk, fair enough no BFL experience, but I know I hadn't an asses roar worth of problem compared to the other rams mentioned. That's worth a lot to me anyway.

Agree with stout post… if its not broke dont fix it. BFL will be far softer than a pure cheviot and dont think they will command any more of a premium. if there is a premium it will reflect the additional work involved.
