    Hi all

Myself and my family been living in a house myself and my mother inherited from my dad 25 yrs ago for the last 18 years.Mother lives in her own house elsewhere.

Is there a length of time I need to be here before she can sign the house fully over to me without me having to pay tax on it or does that even exist anymore?

    Thanks

To answer your question no, there is no length of time for the case you have outlined given its not her principal private residence. She is liable to CGT on the gain, but can claim ppr relief for any years that it was her ppr. CGT wont be due on her passing so its better to pass the house as an inheritance rather than a gift in her lifetime
