Mary is not rich (but probably less poorer than many)

Yes but if she can afford and wants a holiday home then she should be allowed to enjoy it.

Speaking of dogs, a dog would probably do a better job at presenting GRay's show.

And no issues with pressing buttons either.

To add to Mary's woes: The word boycott entered the English language during the Irish "Land War" and derives from Captain Charles Boycott, the land agent of an absentee landlord, Lord Erne, who lived in County Mayo,

Has the hubby got a brother that could act as a donor? We are talking new sports car levels of costs on the IVF Journey.

So I am probably going to get ripped to shreds for this - but why do people feel like they are entitled to have a child at the State's cost?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,486 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

friend and his wife had first child with IVF , and trying for a second now with IVF. They have fairly well paying jobs, but they waited till they were into their 40's till trying for the first child.

I think there is better way to spend money in other health departments than geriatric pregnancies

The hubby's sperm count being discussed on public radio is hardly a good thing.

I'm completely in favour of free IVF but this couple have a (presumably) happy and healthy child. They seem to be expending a lot of time, money and emotion into having another, even borrowing money and forgoing other things in life - she sounds fixated on this. At what point is it wise to pause and take a breath, even just for your own sanity? Lots of people seem to get absolute tunnel vision about their "ideal" family and lose sight of everything else, including how lucky they are to have what they have in the here and now. A bitter pill that almost everyone is forced to swallow at some point in life, but very few people get to have every single thing they ever wanted unfortunately.

Jesus if I was her partner I'd be out of there .sounds a controlling person and loves hearing her own voice

they have spent 50k on IVF, and it sounds like a lot of emotion has been put into this too.
sometimes you need say, it’s not going to happen, and start living the rest of your life

a guilty plea, and the reduced sentence it affords, should reflect when the guilty plea is offered. pleading guilty on the day of the court case is a crock of shite IMO

I don't understand his view at all. He built the house himself in the 90's, lets say he built it for €150k, it's now worth €250k, he will owe €33k on the sale but will have €66k of a gain to blow on the poker table in the hills of Donegal.

It sounds like they picked this guy off the street and told him to talk about something.

I haven't got an effing clue what or who he is talking about
