Well this hurts us (Stormers) a bit. I wonder if he even traveled. Could play the final if we make it that far.

I wonder if he even traveled

Doubtful, there is no way he was getting no ban.

Though stranger things have happened with URC disciplinary panels.

The Currie Cup should really be scrapped to give SA teams the best chance in the URC and EPCR competitions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,508 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

Currie Cup will never be scrapped. It is one of the oldest rugby comps in the world.

Maybe a focus should be on developing players for the majority of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,832 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Yeah fair enough then, maybe they could integrate the regular season of it with the URC in that case, when the SA teams play each other the points are counted towards both competitions. Would give each team fewer matches per season at the very least

How so? The 2 competitions dont overlap, the international players dont really play much in the Currie Cup. Teams use the Currie Cup to ease their players back in from injury sometimes, or to develop their players who arent quite there yet on URC level. What happens to the other 10 teams and their players/staff? Below the Currie Cup is the First division also. Reducing our pool of players doesnt benefit us, I dont think. It started in the late 1800's, one of the oldest rugby competitions in the world.

Here is an article I just found that explains the Currie Cup was moved so it doesnt clash with URC. They are introducing a new competition to decide which 4 teams will play Currie Cup rugby with the 4 URC teams, and which 6 teams will play First Division.

They could move it to the 6N window. If memory serves it's 10 rounds in the Currie Cup pretty much played consecutively between July-September? Rounds 1-5 could take place in 4 URC weeks prior to the 6 Nations where the URC teams get a few inter-pros out of the way as well with the 7 weeks of the 6N serving the other rounds and the final

you cant run the currie cup at the same time as URC rounds because many players overlap. The 6N period is a time of URC SA derbies.

Its fine at test time because test players tend not to play.

And also, having the Currie Cup compete with the URC or 6 Nations for viewers AKA money, not a good idea. Scheduling be a pain then also.

I'm talking about the same teams, playing the same games and whatever points they get are added to both leagues tables

The Sharks starting 15 is incredibly strong. Strange how they can’t seem to translate it into performances on the pitch.

Surprised people are going for Munster. The only thing going in their favour is that they are Munster, other than that I'd have the Sharks as strong favourites. Their results have flattered to deceive recently in that it was a poor Ulster they beat and the Benetton game was much closer than the score line showed.

The other thing they have going in their favour is that the Sharks are the Sharks.

I dont think Munster will win but I wouldn't be shocked.

Stormers lose their captain after 8 minutes due to injury. Glasgow lookong dangerous. And now yellow card for Stormers too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,404 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Feinberg-Mngomezulu takes contact too often for a 10. Too often he tricks it up without looking at the options outside of him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,031 ✭✭✭accensi0n

Difficult to see in real-time but Glasgow did get fucked there.

Stormers poacher wasn't initially supporting his own body weight technically

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,404 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

That's a great Stormers try. Libbok delays the pass to draw in a tackler before passing wide to the wing. Speed kills.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,192 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Ffs, each time the Stormers score and get close on the score board, then Glasgow hit right back again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,404 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Glasgow reply immediately. Stormers aren't a good side defensively and can't number up correctly.

Glasgow also having a lot of success with their aerial game. Winning so many high contests off their own kicks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,404 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Another Glasgow try. They turn over a Stormers lineout and spread it wide immediately. Ran it in from 60m out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,192 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Stormers look gassed. Feinburg looks like he kicked the ball away just so he could get a breather. Dont see them coming back now from 33-18 down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,318 ✭✭✭ersatz

Glasgow's defence is impressive. They're very physical and organised.

Glasgows stadium has got a lovely homely community feel to it. Big enough but not too big.
