I think I read somewhere that he is only doing it until next year; wouldn't surprise me he's lived in London for years and has a young family over there.

    Tommy Tiernan

Tommy prob favourite, has experience of presenting similar show on RTÉ.

55 now so maybe touring less. €200,000+ pay from RTÉ for single digit hours a week is nice. LL has 3 month hiatus in the summer so he can tour then.

Miriam & Claire were floated by the media when Kielty got it. Miriam is 67 now & not everyone’s cuppa. Few dislike Tommy, has wit & easygoing gravitas. Not my favourite standup but has a relaxed genuine relatability.

Oliver Callan I suppose. He's fairly good on the radio.

    Lottie Ryan.

She's in the paper too much lately for it not be her. And of course Gerry being her dad means she has the talent.

Given the fact that under Kielty the LLS has gone part-time and shown absolutely no improvement in depth or quality, and given the financial disaster at RTÉ, I'd be fairly confident that there will be no more Late Late Show after this current tenure.

You could do a 30 minute magazine programme, twice a week, at 7.30pm, from September to May, to hoover up those more significant interviews, like Irish sports stars returning with medals and people launching albums and movies and so on, and that would really cover it. Ideal for Kathryn Thomas or Daithí or some such journeyman.

For other matters such as politics, societal issues, human interest etc, there are already an excess of shows that could fit those in; Prime Time, TWIP, Monday Night with Katie Hannon, Nationwide, Ear to the Ground, Tommy Tiernan etc, and also the very good output that Radio 1 can do; Oliver Callan, Today, Brendan O'Connor etc.

And the Toy Show could always continue as an annual one-off, with an emsemble of presenters from Kids TV, Sport, Music etc.

There simply is no reason for the LLS to exist anymore. The days of appointment TV are over. People are far more likely to catch up on bits and pieces online, if they hear of something of interest to them. So those bits and pieces have no reason to be assembled into a 2 hour live show on a Friday night.

It should be left to die. It’s just a propaganda vehicle for the establishment in recent years, and with guests like Simon Harris and Ivana Bacik on in recent weeks it only seems to be getting worse.

Possibly Kate Mulgrew, she spends enough time on this side of the Atlantic…

The Late Late Show has always had politicians as guests. One of the greatest bits of tv Ireland ever seen was an arrogant, out of touch politician bemoaning the difficulties of managing three houses.

Has Kielty added anything to it? Whoever takes it over it'll still be dull and dreary.

I'd second Lottie Ryan. A modern day journalist which jogs the memory to the days of Woodward and Bernstein. Add in the fact that she has the lighthearted personality and wit of a Graham Norton. She is one of Ireland's greatest ever media presence's. It must be in the DNA.

Top of the Pops was canceled in 2006 but returns every year over the Xmas/New Year period.

That would get me watching. Don't think she would leave sports coverage though.

I really think it should be binned as it currently is....And just brought back for special editions...toy show etc...2 or 3 shows a year...special surprise guest hosts...
