Near feck all posts today, even counting the deleted ones, which is just another indication of how the show has turned even more into background nonsense with an absentee host. On the positive side, it's less ad revenue for the likes of Boards, so it's not all bad news. Not long left now.

Tbh it's hard to know what will happen to LL. I'd imagine a large proportion of it's audience is down to the fact that it's just whatever is on after the News at One. And to a large extent it doesn't really matter who is presenting it to retain the audience - like when Tubridy left.

This thread has a different kinda dynamic. Obviously it's a running commentary on the show, but, it's also equally a running commentary on Joe too. With no Joe to comment on there'll be less posts here. I don't think a lot of the listenership listen to the show in the same way - not knocking it, it can be the most entertaining way, but I have anecdotally heard people saying they prefer Katie presenting over Joe. I wouldn't agree, but to each their own!

I don't share your view about boards. I do agree that the site may not be long for this world, but I wouldn't be gleeful about it. Why would I look forward to the end of a site I used everyday? That doesn't make sense to me.

Regarding the thread here, the rules have changed recently and a lot of people, myself included are unsure what is allowed and what is not. Depending on the mod on duty on the day, even saying "so to speak" can get you a warning or even a ban.

So yeah, lots of people are cautious about posting. And yes I do think boards in general is circling the drain. It's unfortunate but thats the way it goes. Go back 15 years ago, my girlfriend had a boards account, as did I, most of the people on my team had one. Now, I'm in a minority, I dont know anyone who still has one.

Yeah......as if 'so to speak' didn't exist before Duffy. There's little to be gleaned from the Liveline thread other than a bit of fun, and that is fast evaporating. Commentary around a show that focuses a week on a search for a set of rosary beads without an element of mockery is not going to pull in posters or people with anything useful to add.

Agree on the caution around posting though, especially seeing as how one of the most ill-judged posts in a long-time was called up last week, and tried to be assuaged with a ridiculously pithy explanation. Details are arguably not the concern of others but would have been interesting to see what the fallout there was. If there was, it was more than likely unjustified, but that's the bed that's been made.

Outside of this thread, Liveline will continue with it's normal audience , and if such a thing can be accurately measured it probably wont show much in the way of a drop.
