Neighbour extension privacy concern

I live on an estate and my neighbour recently started construction of what i am assuming is a planning exempt development ~30-40 sq meter on the rear of the property - single story. It's becoming apparent that the new backdoor and windows will be facing my property line (more than 1 meter away) however because of how the elevation is they will now overlook my back garden - patio etc. so there is a loss of privacy.

I have no interest in falling out with neighbours on this so looking at sensible options like increasing the height of the panels at the side currently 5ft to 6ft which will go a long way, we have already planted some hedging along the perimeter but that will be years until it hits the height needed.

Anyone been in a similar situation? any advice?

    Cheers

you can raise the boundary to a max of 2.0 m without requiring permission.

I was just about to post that. It's the obvious solution.

Yeah they are OK to swap out the panels with the larger ones. But I may take the opportunity just to build my own fence to the required height. I'll give the options go halves on replacing the panels or ill just do my own side.
