I am an tipp man and I agree

every county is at it. Just limerick have such fine players they benefit from it more.
    Same for cork.

It's Limerick all day long for me. As a Cork fan, a draw here would be a fine result.

Quite possible could be the outcome. They won't be much in this game whoever wins.

Limerick will beat Cork Sunday. Will be close though.

I be thinking the same. But to have any chance of winning we would have to play a full 70mins. Looking back at the 2023 encounter. That was a one point game. Are Limerick now better than 2023 team? Hard to know. Are Cork better than their own 2023 team most definitely. Cork have to perform fully or they don't have any hope otherwise.

Will be a great weekend of hurling in Munster. All 5 teams can still qualify and all 5 can still go out.

Leinster a lot more certain, although Dublin the only team that are mathematically qualified. Highly likely that Galway and Kilkenny will join them.

Munster is proper jeopardy. You'd nearly feel sorry for the likes of Kilkenny as they have to play a lot of poor quality matches

I think 4 teams can possibly go out last day of the championship..cork I see as the only guaranteed team to go forward ,regardless of losing against limerick..they will most definitely not be beaten by waterford on last day ..waterford may possibly have nothing to play for if tipp win on Sunday..

I think Limerick losing to Cork twice last year might play on their minds a bit, kind of what Clare v Cork has been like in the last year, its all a mental game.

Cork have the drive to beat Limerick and the motivation, i havent seen enough in Limerick yet to get a proper feel for how they will perform. That said, home advantage in Limerick will be massive for them, thankfully looks to be sold out, both Limerick and Cork fans travel well so i'm expecting plenty Cork fans there too. It will be down to the wire

One of the 4 should be safe with the 3 others in danger zone - not sure how either Lmk or cork depending on who wins this week wouldn't be safe on 5 points?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,764 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

If Limerick can't beat whatever it is Clare have become then we don't deserve to be in any All Ireland series.

I know people will say they will raise it against us but there are no excuses losing to a team that got battered by Waterford and lost at home to Tipp.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭C4000

Winner of Limerick Cork are qualified and realistically are in the Munster Final. Technically there could be a three way tie with Tipp on 5 points but Tipp are miles behind on scoring difference.

No shame in losing to Cork though no? In the unlikely event of limerick losing both home games, it won't be a case of not deserving to be in the series, limerick will be knocked out entirely. Now I highly doubt that will happen, but stranger things and all that. For many reasons, Cork Limerick will be very intriguing.

If Waterford beat Tipp, Limerick would qualify even if they lost the last two games, unless Clare made up a 17 point scoring difference gap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,764 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Limerick would not be out if Waterford beat Tipp. We would most likely go through on points difference.

And I didn't think it needed explaining that losing to a favourite who are on flying form and a team practically knocked out and playing shte are different things.

I don't expect Waterford to beat Tipp myself, the other game seems harder to call. Clare will have more of a rest and a couple of players back to decent levels, I expect them to play better than they have been anyway. Whether it'll be enough is another thing however.

Galway v Antrim - expect a big home win here.

Wexford v Offaly - Offaly probably going to focus on next week. Expect a comfortable Wexford win here aswell.

Kilkenny v Dublin - biggest Leinster game so far. A draw or a Kilkenny win, coupled with a Galway win over Antrim decides the top 3 in Leinster with a week to spare - Kilkenny, Galway and Dublin advance. A Dublin win throws it open again. Dublin are already qualified I think so add a Galway win/draw v Dublin on the last day and a Wexford win at home to Kilkenny knocks the cats out. Im really hoping for a Dublin win, it would be great to see them make a big step forward and it would add a lot to the last round in Leinster but I think their record in Nowlan Park is not good. Kilkenny here.

Tipp v Waterford. Seeing a lot of pundits go in for Waterford, the lads on Ourgame especially. I dont see their body of work this year comparing to Tipperarys. Tipp at home aswell and probably with the vast majority of supporters given the minor final tonight in Thurles also bringing Waterford fans down 2 days early. Tipp have had 8 days since the Clare game too, I think people are making too big a deal of the 6 day turnaround for Waterford, and 8 days gives Tipp way more recovery time than that. Waterford were run over by Limerick, dominated by Dublin in the league barring the red card turning it in their favour, bet by Carlow early on, missing lads but still bet, troubled by Offaly at times and we've see Offalys form since. They've lost some pace from opt-outs this year too and 2021/2022 form is well in the past. They will take the Clare win as a marker of form for themselves and this game would have been targeted by them early doors as a must win. But Tipp are definitely moving better, have added youth and pace in every line and look a lot fitter than last year. I think they'll have too much for Waterford but it'll be tight and could easily go the other way.

Limerick v Cork. Honestly I have no clue whats going to happen here. Limerick had a poor league, showing well at times but inconsistent. Championship form has been much much more consistent. I though we were very good against Waterford but also think the performance against Tipp was just as good. That game to me was the highest quality game of the year so far. Kiely said as much himself. I expect us to perform well at home, however Cork have had our number and bring a pace that no other county has. They are a first half team though, and I think if we survive to half time within a score we can win this. I think if anyone can survive until half time against this Cork team, the game can go either way. Its a big test for our FB line, but they have the experience to come through, and I think a HB line of Byrnes, Hayes and Nash is better than last years. O'Brien has also added to our forwards and English too. So im gonna go with a home win.

This would also set Cork v Waterford up nicely aswell in the last round. Cork would be massive favourites, but anything can happen on a given day. An injury, a red card, a penalty. A knockout game on the final day would test any teams mettle and Id like to see how Cork cope this year and would rather it be them than ourselves v Clare!!

Cant see Dublin getting close.to Kilkenny. I just think Kilkenny are way ahead of Leinster this year.

A lot went against us that day - the pick off the ground that wasn't, Gillane fooling the ref to engineer a penalty - but I still think Limerick need to win this more than us.

I 'm travelling in hope and for a good performance. Getting blown out of it won't do us any good.

Big difference in ticket prices between Munster and Leinster championship. 35 for stand and 30 for terrace in Munster and 25 for stand and 15 for terrace in Leinster. I only noticed how cheaper the Leinster tickets were yesterday. 30 is far too much for a terrace ticket. The Munster council must be delighted at the crowds so far so I suppose they feel it's justified but they are milking the cash cow a bit much this year.

So how long more are the provincials going to go on like this with them being so unbalanced? And how much longer can Leinster last as it is when the difference between teams is just ridiculous?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,078 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

They'll never go because of how good the Munster Championship is

Been saying for years (and a bit sour grapes been from Waterford) Run them off as knockout use them for seedings toward an all Ireland group stage of some sort

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 610 ✭✭✭TheSunIsShining

The danger is that in keeping Munster they will kill Leinster. And by the way. Have no idea personally what the solution is. But knowing that the 5th team in Munster would almost certainly qualify as a top 3 team in Leinster can't be ignored forever surely?

    Its that to a tee

They know it full well but choose to ignore it. Can't be upsetting the Provincial councils
