They send you a one time email with a QR code. Need to get a new QR code sent if you delete them. The irish one is fine. Just my international one is the tricky one.

Seeing some posts on Reddit to make sure Ram Plus is turned off as it seems to get enabled after a software update. It's in under settings device care Memory

That's on from factory, out of the box. Mine was always on.

As it was the day you bought it. Why do I know? Because I'm sadly interested in these sorts of things when I get a new device.

This isn't the origin of the issue at all.

Just seen someone online saying to wipe the partition cache after updates

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 34,339 ✭✭✭✭listermint

That's good advice to follow. And used to be a reliable solution. I think that would be a solid first step before full reset.

Thought I would give early update post full reset. Yesterday heavy usage day including Dex and sat nav. Finished day at 27 percent just after midnight from usage start 7am.

    Great result from my perspective.

Currently over 6 hours into normal usage at used 17 percent.

My immediate perspective is it's gained back what I lost. It feels anecdotally so far that I've resolved my previous experience.

Will report back in a few days.

Thanks for the update. Looking good and fingers crossed for you.

I have done the cache partiton wipe and noticed that my phone isnt running as hot on charge. Time wil tell.

To open the boot menu, press and hold the Side key and the volume up button on the side of the Samsung Galaxy S24. Release the Side key once the Samsung Galaxy S24 turns on and maintain the volume up button pressed until the device enters Reboot Mode. Choose Wipe cache partition by pressing the volume down button.

I had to plug my S24 ultra into the computer. Also if you have the app Good Guardians open it after an run the Galaxy App Booster. Dont tick the last 30days box.

Closing out another day's usage with over 30 percent battery.

Satisfied this resolved the abysmal post update battery power.

    Thumbs up from me.

Coming from a s20Fe and probably staying with samsung.

Any reason not to go for s24FE in 2025?

Looking at the S24FE 256gb for about €457.

Have about 107gb used on the s20fe so think it's safer go for 256gb rather than 128gb

100% agree - coincidence that the s25 is released?! No !

There has been 2 software updates since I made that post, and in fact the 2nd update i just did an hour ago, so will be interesting to see if any improvement in the battery since.

It's extremely common that firmware updates cause battery drain, for a variety of reasons. I've seen all sorts over the years. Sometimes it's remedied with a factory reset, sometimes it needs further software updates, sometimes it is due to some of your existing apps needing to be updated for the new version of Android.

Highly unlikely it would be a deliberate ploy from Samsung to get people on the S25. It seems sales for that are going quite well anyway, despite the initial doom and gloom.

Sales first month were strong. Second month in were down 9 percent year on year.

Overall sales for Q1 are lower that last year despite last year being a record sales for their entire range breaking records on S23 launch.

Impacts could be tariffs or other things but they failed to achieve 23 to 24 levels of growth. And pipped by Apple in the US.

I also think its slower to charge!! lol

My battery (S24U) seems to be better the last day or so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,508 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Yeah mine too (standard model s24).

Not sure if technically it is, or only anecdotally for now?

Just updated my S24 Ultra to OneUI 8 today. If you check for updates it should be available to you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,508 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Updated to Android 16 today, will be interesting to see if any improvements, then again i dont use any of those AI things, so i might not notice anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,881 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Didnt notice much of a difference tbh but the YouTube app is a pain in the hole lately esp trying to Chromecast to my Sony Bravia TV

Constantly not loading videos and then suddenly going back to the homepage clearing the 'que'

I made a few setting changes and upgraded to OneUI 8. Afterwards I wiped the cache partition and drained battery to 0% and charged to 100%.

    Turned off Adaptive Battery.

    Set screen to Natural mode.

Set as many apps to Deep Sleep or Sleeping modes if possible.

Under Device Care set performance profile to Light.

Auto optimisation set to restart phone at certain time of day or once a week.

Downloaded the Good Guardians app from the Samsung App Store and ran the battery optimisation function.

    Set screen to 60Hz.

Previously I had gone into developer mode and made changes there regarding display transition etc.

Getting 30hrs of battery life now.

Previously was getting about 7-10 hrs usage

I just reset the phone after update and getting the same.

Curious as to whether other Samsung S owners get this issue?

I own a standard s24. Daily life with it is fine, no issues.

But when I have it in the car and use Android Auto, the battery shoots down and the phone gets really hot. Is this common when using AA, or is my phone the issue?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,810 ✭✭✭bennyx_o

AAre you using AA wirelessly? If so, I'd assume that's what's drainign the battery. I haven't used AA in a while but the last time I did was wired and my phone got quite hot

    Yes usually wirelessly.

Sometimes it would be plugged in, I often have to to keep the battery level up, but can't remember if it affected the heat

Will test it next time im out
