Looks like Thursday. Zelensky will meet Putin for talks in Turkey and will be there. Trump has told Putin to be there.

Ball is completely in Putin's court. Even Trump is getting tired of Moscow cosplaying "peace talks" whilst attacking Ukraine every day since Feb 2022.

I'm liking this new Pope. Calling Putin straight out on his imperialistic war.

Zelensky will get killed if he's within reach of Putins men , no way he goes there

That’s a nice change from previous pope who regurgitated Kremlin talking points and never bothered to do anything about the kidnapped kids or continual prisoner torture and abuses

Also , we should include ''corrupt Zelensky's mansions''(mainly a MAGA obsession) and 'Victoria Nuland' .

Bonus points for being oh so concerned about Nazis while feigning ignorance as to why Russias Wagner mercenaries are named after Hitlers favourite composer.

Western values don't dress children up in military uniforms and march them through streets.

Putin's Russia does. It's an imperialist power who sing of invading countries in Europe and doing so again. It's the brainwashing of children that allows the like of Putin rule coupled with his destruction of any opposition. Let nobody ever whitewash history and the present and say Putin's Russia is not a warmongering nation who care for human values and anything that is written on paper.

Note the tattoos displayed on this prominent, and deceased, Wagnerite, Dmitri Utkin.

Just typical responses, the relevance of McCain gets completely ignored down to the point of, yea he supported the protests. Anyway, the great European leaders and the West are to be supported and believed by it seems, everyone here on this, in their moral righteousness when it comes to standing against Russia, yet those same nations are standing by and some even facilitating,( with weapons) while a rogue terrorist regime is murdering 10s of thousands of civilians and ethnically cleansing them from the land they live on,but go on, believe the West. So moral

Trump has kind of moved the goalposts here, lifted the pressure on Putin for an immediate ceasefire

But still if he stands by what he is implying here

“At least they will be able to determine whether or not a deal is possible, and if it is not, European leaders, and the U.S., will know where everything stands, and can proceed accordingly!”

we may finally see Trump putting some serious heat on Putin

Guys it's just a standard issue Vatnik argument. Bring out the bingo board and be done with it. No point arguing.

Surely even trump couldn't make any excuses if anything happened to zelensky on the trip.

I'll honestly fall out of my chair if this guy takes actual action to put pressure on Putin.

Putin has killed many many before ,and he just denies it, and world moves on. If Zelensky takes a sniper bullet, it will be put down to some rogue shooter, nothing to do with Putin.

Germany was given permission to transfer ATACMs and Patriot missiles by US

Not clear if they were owned by Germany or stored there by US

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,857 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Well he seemed to behind the push the other day to impose 'massive' new sanctions on Putin

But the devil and all couldn't get Trump to stick to a consistent line on matters like this for more than a couple of days…

Nuland's already in there, was one of the first. It's pretty much untouched since 2022. The old reliables don't let us down.

Honestly its Putin who would be afraid to be in the same room as Zelenskyy, that man's been going full tilt at the Gym for the last 3 years he could probably snap Putin in 2 if he wanted to.

Germany doesn’t field ATACMs, only GMLRS, so I’d suspect that those are US stocks prepositioned in NATO depots in Germany. As for Patriot, Germany recently ordered 8 new Patriot batteries as well as additional missiles for its existing systems. I wouldn’t be surprised if Berlin basically told Luftwaffe command to give up some of its own missiles in light of this.

Then again, given the size of US depots in places like Mannheim and Germersheim, those could be US missiles as well. Even after decades of drawdown, the size of some of those depots is still impressive.

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

unbelievable- Putin suggesting a meeeting on Thursday next in Turkey and Trump going along with it. All in such a SHORT space of time

Who is going to facilitate it

What’s The details of the agenda?
    what will be the proceedure.

If America is there has France , Uk, et al also have a right to be there.

re ceasefire before talksTrump has completely ignored the Kiev agreement made a day or two ago re putting pressure on Putin and Trump completely ignoring what was decided there

Trump also ignoring kellogue, one of his advisors - re ceasefire fire before talks begin

And Dugin, Putins philosopher, what about his plan for Ukraine? Because he as sure as hell isn't Boris Johnson, is he? And neither is Dugin and Putin the only ones. Heres another example for you.

And not only Dugin, Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox church will come in for some serious theological discussions as well, I imagine.

It's quite bizarre that Trump doesn't want a ceasefire before negotiations begin. What on earth would be the reason to keep the war going as a backdrop to the talks?

Before Johnson arrived, the Ukrainians had already decided themselves that it was not a good deal for them and had decided to reject it, johnson's advice nonwithstanding. But Russians like the blame Johnson. Same as they blame everyone except themselves for all their failings. Putin knew full well what he was demanding in Istanbul, but here it is again, for anyone who may have missed it, and it clearly shows that the terms Putin was insisting on, were 100% unacceptable to Ukraine. Fact is, Putins terms were thinly disguised surrender. But when Putin / Kremlin are challenged on this, they roll out their usual crap that Ukraine had accepted the terms until Johnson arrived and told them not to accept the Istanbul agreement.

The bottom line for Putin now is to continue the war as though his life depended on it..because thats exactly the reality of it for him. A matter of Life or Death… Russian History shows that every Russian leader who lost a war, lost his own life shortly afterwards as well..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,654 ✭✭✭Infini

Problem for that Vatnik Shìtstain is he failed to account for one thing: Sunk Cost Fallacy. He can terrorise his population, throw people out windows and keep burning money but at some point hes either going to have to look for a way out of this war or hes going to burn Russias economy out first and if the economy goes to shìt then there goes the one thing keeping his dogs from turning on him.

Putin lost this the moment the Ukrainians broke their shìtty army at the gates of Kyiv, its all been downhill since then, hes gained minimal territory over the last 3 years, got uno reversed in Kursk and has squandered the soviet legacy to the point they're running out of armor now.

Eventually its all going to come back to bite Putin in the ass.

I posted a link showing President Zalensky explaining exactly what was in the Istanbul agreement, and his very valid reasons for rejecting it. You can bet your life that if Putin is ever faced with what was in that agreement (in fact it was an ultimatum) he would reject it too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,857 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

it's not that he doesn't want it but clearly somebody has been in his ear telling him not to make it a precondition just focus on the Istanbul talks…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,010 ✭✭✭jmreire

But whats even more certain is that Putin cannot win a war with Ukraine… Ukraine is now the proverbial bone stuck in Putins throat, slowly choking him. and he can neither swallow or spit it out.Yeah, not exacty what he planned back in 2014 when he started the war in Ukraine.
