I'm of the same opinion, I rate this squad of players and think we have under performed. From a coach's perspective they backed JJ and Cordero to solve two key positions and both were out on long term injuries. What's that saying about lucky generals? Anyway new coaching team.

The squad I posted excludes Academy promotions. I would be surprised to see Flynn promoted this year I but do expect to see Tracey and Naughton on full contracts.

I think we may see 1 more addition to the squad.

Treacy should definitely be moved on to a Senior contract with the minutes he's playing. But Max Flynn is just completing his first year in the Academy and hasn't made his senior debut, is there a reason they should be moving him to a senior contract? Or do you just mean that he's close to being able to get minutes?

4 on 2 butchered by JJ trying to skip them all and passing out on the full there. Should have been a try

Looked like crossing for that try there. Much more so than was given against us against stormers.

Oh wait he said it was ok now calling back to check it....

Disallowed balls but I think it is obstruction

Why was that not "second man" ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 927 ✭✭✭CowboyTed

Sorry, but this looks like a disaster in coaching…

Look like good players that met in the car park

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 376 ✭✭CalmaftertheGav

And that is why Connacht are 14th in the table…

Pretty poor again so far. Loads of possession with little returns and conceeded very easily

Systematic inefficacy meets individual incompetence, and makes for an extremely difficult watch. Not a single player has even reached the lofty heights of mediocrity, I'm sure they want to see the end of the season as much as we do.

Is it just the camera angle or is Cullie Tucker on his own in the coaching box?

Let's see what the second half brings.

Not even about winning, let's see if there's any fight in this team.

Hawkshaw always improves the team when he's on the park. We should move him to 10 and bench Hanrahan.

    That was nice

We really don’t take the line out seriously in this country…

    It’s not even funny anymore…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 376 ✭✭CalmaftertheGav

Again that’s why Connacht are 14th in the table…

Side to side play, no protect at the ruck and then give away the softest tries imaginable…recipe for disaster.

How does he score from there. Very very poor by numerous defenders again especially Treacy. I thought he picked it without being the last man though so maybe could have been offside. But ya can't defend like that and hope to win games

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 376 ✭✭CalmaftertheGav

    So let’s highlight

    No Scrum

    No lineout

    Little penetration in attack

    None existent defence

    No discipline.

That Is exactly why Connacht are where they are as a team…

bundee flucking aki. what a waste of space

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭testtech05

Pretty pathetic. We had more than enough chances to get a win there but there is some amount of work to be done by whatever coaching ticket we have for next season.

time and again I have said it and time and again he delivers Nothing

Such a dip ****. The sooner he is gone the better for Connacht

Simply weak. It seems lack (or too little) of training time. There was too many amature-level mistakes..

Oh well, rotten game to end a rotten season at home.

3 of that starting 15 on their way out the door too with only one coming in..... doesn't fill one with hope.

Thought Santi was pretty good today, hopefully he has something lined up for next year, same for Oliver who always gives his all.

There should be a complete clearout of all the coaches now....

Wilkins was not the full problem.

Best of luck to the players leaving.

    Disappointing effort tonight..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭SqueakyKneecap

The players and coaches have never been less connected to the supporters and performances like that tonight aren't helping.

That was a great chance to end the season on a positive note and they couldn't even do that.

Seib has a mammoth task if he's headcoach. The culture developed under Lam and more over the last decade is dying out. Ruane and Co need to take a lot of blame but IRFU seem happy out.

Worst season in a long time. A complete shitshow really although probably won't get the media coverage as it's only Connacht. New stadium on the way but the product on the pitch is probably the worst it's been for a long time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 2025Connacht

There needs to be a major review internally at Connacht which needs to involve the IRFU coming to the table and reviewing how to maximise the potential of Connacht. That doesn't necessarily involve more funding but does require organisation and accountability for the position Connacht are in.

In some ways there is a lot of things being done well in bringing through players and identifying players that might have fallen through the cracks otherwise but these players are then thrown into a chaotic poorly coached team and there's a risk of careers being ruined by playing in this team.

We are definitely short in a few areas of the pitch but we have the basis of a good team if we have the right structures in place. There's been so many games this year where we have caused our own downfall. 14th should be regarded as completely unacceptable given the squad we have.

Millard coming in is a start but there is huge work to be done in all aspects and not just on the field. Off the field it feels like the supporters are now largely indifferent to the team. Castlebar was a good one off success but week to week there is no real connection between the supporters and team like there would have been even when we were completely hopeless.

Its very frustrating being in this position because most of our problems are self inflicted.

Could end up quite a bit better than 14th, Connacht should be getting a 5-pointer next week against Zebre, which should put Connacht in a finishing place around 11th.

That’s not so bad really, considering how congested the league table is from 6th to 14th right now.
