    My understanding of these systems is that there is a sensor in the centre of the mower that uses these wires to locate the base station when finished. If you had it too close to the edge of the garden the sensor would not pick it up and would struggle to return home. I guess its a small price to pay to have a robot mow your lawn 😁

    I bought the Lidl one and despite realising today that the one I got doesnt seem to have the app connectivity, its actually doing a pretty good job of the lawn. I was brave and left it start on grass that was pretty high to start but it worked its way around over 2 or 3 runs and the lawn is perfect now and I am very happy indeed. For the money, I think it is well worth it albeit I was disappointed that I cannot control it with the app.

    yes that’s correct. But installation guide suggests installing the wire 30cm from the edge of your lawn. The robots typically go out over the wire by this distance then.
    I have an older robot that does exactly this. But the Aldi one is cutting to the exact edge of the wire.
    doesn’t seem to match up with the instruction manual.
