So its not always BMW drivers. Driving in Limerick is gone to hell since covid. Every morning i see the same people pulling these stunts.

I think Mercs are becoming the new Beemers. Always seems to be one glued to my back bumper lately.

Bizarre, regardless of whether he thought he had a green man surely anyone would at least look up the road before crossing?

Looks like an albino to me. They often have very poor eyesight, bordering on legally blind.

Without a dashcam you'd be totally screwed on that one.

Motorcyclist and pillion passenger both testify that they saw sees pedestrian waiting, at the lights, as he should be. Reasonable.
Pedestrian, if they survive, says they were stopped, and only crossed after seeing the green man.

There is almost no scenario where a jury would believe that, after stopping at the lights, the pedestrian randomly decided to walk into your path.

That important are ya, you wouldn't give a second to let the N driver in?

    Without any consideration

Why do you think the indicator was on?

For the record the right thing to do when in the wrong lane and no space/time to correct without impinging on other road users is to carry on in the wrong direction to the next place where you can safely return to your preferred route.

What do you suggest drivers who need to change lane in advance in heavy slow moving traffic do if other cars won't let a gap open up? Keep driving in the wrong direction away from their intended destination just in case another driver may be impeded?

Just pure ignorance. If I'm in the position of that N driver I'd have forced my way in. Fuck the BMW driver. They're that busy jerking off over their car they wouldn't want it tipped and would have let the gap open anyway.

One from earlier; crappy conditions and an extremely optimistic overtake, looked even closer tbh.

(time's out by an hour; forgot to set the time when the clock's changed).

Looked very close. I'd be clenching in your position watching that on the road.

Only for the guy getting passed wisely dropping the anchor that would have been a lot lot worse.

That driver will come a cropper if he keeps on taking chances like that 🫣

Worst I've seen for a while, a tad too much car for a tad too little ability. That driver needs to be put off the road before they kill someone else. No hard shoulder, so once he decided to go ahead with it, he and everyone else, including the cam car were committed. Wet road and an oncoming truck meant that in the worst case scenario neither would be able to knock off much speed before the head on.

Scary to think we have to share the road with drivers with such poor judgement.

OP, is the reg visible on the original footage? Looks like a Mach E.

First one is Dublin - gets hit and starts break rules of the road to follow them, when he has the reg plate and face, good watch tho (oh read comments and its old)

I've agonised over whether I should upload this one - it happened last November but seeing as the Gardaí seem to have zero interest, I may as well release it into the open.

No prior interaction with the BMW. Please excuse the music, I blame Spotify.

Straight to the guards with that one. Oh wait…

    T

Likely get pulled off YouTube for having unlicensed music so remove that and repost.

That's a terrible brake check. Why did you flash like mad at him. First one I understand but no need after that. I've given up flashing any car as nobody seems to be aware anymore. Doesn't excuse what they did. Did the driver that hit you pay on their insurance. I'm sure they would like that footage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 509 ✭✭✭Psychedelic Hedgehog

Don't care about monetisation so it can stay as is.

First flash was because he cut me up and forced me to slow down, second time was a 'f off' as if you look closely at his driver's window, he's gesticulating wildly at me.

I and two cars behind me were taken out by a tipper truck, bill is the trucks despite him being in the wrong place at the wrong time. They all were provided the footage.

Was it the lorry that piled in to a car causing the rest?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 509 ✭✭✭Psychedelic Hedgehog

Yeah, given the abruptness of the brake check he never had a chance.

Absolute scumbag. BMW's insurance should be pay that. Were they involved? Two cars behind you got a right smack.

I'd also be following up with the Gardai again. There is zero excuse for the BMW's brake check. Cut and dry dangerous driving. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a Garda/family/friend.

08-D-73468, 08 D 73468 08D73468 in case anyone else searches for them online. Illegal reg too.

They 'weren't involved' from an insurance perspective as I stopped short enough from them to ensure that they weren't hit (straight from my insurance company's mouth).

I've tried following up with the Gardaí, no acknlowledgement of my queries. It's been six months, I have to try and let it go for my own sake, but not without making the evidence public first.

The only driver who comes out of that clip with any credit is the person in lane 1, everyone else is lane hogging, especially the two artic drivers in the middle lane. He undertook you but was braking back to the speed of the car in front of you so the first flash was aggression on your part, the rest more so. Yes he was a knob braking then but all fault still lies with the tipper truck driver (why was he even in that lane?) as you need to travel a distance behind you're capable of stopping in, he wasn't paying enough attention.

It's a classic example of why lane hogging leads to accidents, why were you in that lane when the other two were completely empty?

I was waiting to overtake the trucks in lane 2 with traffic in front of me - look at the speed readout, I was accelerating up to 95kph and he forced me to slow down to 65kph in a 100kph zone.

The flash was to indicate, 'hey, you just cut me up'. If that's aggression, then I don't know what to say.

    (Edited to remove unnecessary jab)

I'm not having a complete go at you, it was more of a question aimed at everyone who sits in a middle or outside lane, and especially at those who drive for a living who are 'supposed' to know the rules of the road. The truck driver in the middle lane was the main cause of the congestion, but, and this is not just you, 'waiting' in the outside lane is just as bad. If everyone simply pulled in until they were actually overtaking the truck faster traffic could get by.

I always pull in even if there's only 100 metres between the vehicles I'm going to overtake, if everyone did that we'd be dandy.

Point taken, but in my defence I always try and avoid getting too close to cars in front, and it can look (as in the video) that I was hogging. Believe me, I was just wanting to get the overtake done and return to lane 1 as swiftly as I could.

Main person to blame in that clip is the truck driver who crashed

Take that higher, some Guards are very lazy, it depends what station you go to.

Man … that’s a shocker! Blatant reckless driving by the BMW driver. The M50 is brutal for incidents. Could it have been avoided? -Several different hazards are happening at the same time & it’s dark.

Large HGV truck ahead should not be driving in the 2nd lane (& getting overtaken in lane one). Use of lanes in general is v poor all round.

The BMW is aggressive/reckless. Getting the finger & flashing lights the second time, (annoyance?) escalated the situation which was already looking risky ahead.

    Music playing adds further distraction.

Car behind you was too close to you.
Traffic ahead was slower/ing. Your car- too close to the BMW ahead (2 second rule), esp when it’s clear he’s reckless.
The tippper truck behind you.. illegal to be in lane 3.

All in all a recipe for disaster. Hope there were no serious injuries with you or others.

The flash was to indicate, 'hey, you just cut me up'.

Flashing headlights to express annoyance (whilst understandable & people do it), it’s improper use.

Id take this event with lessons to learn. Unfortunately we’ve limited control over other the behaviour of others (possibly under influence) … which put you in a v dangerous situation. Under pressure, defensive driving skills could have taken the heat out of this pressure cooker. The worst offender taking off… annoying, but ‘what comes around….’

    Hope you’re ok 👌

Edit: I can understand why you’d feel the need to let this one go. Personally I’d remove the footage, engaging with post-mortem comments (boards/youtube) re-lives the stress of it.

Yeah, if there was one thing I wish I'd done differently it would have been not to react to him throwing shapes with that second light flash.

I usually am quite aware of leaving myself an escape route should the worst happen but I never thought in a million years that the BMW would bring me to a halt where heavy traffic is merging from a number of slips and going from 80 to 100kph (it's the N7 outbound at Newland's Cross). It really was the perfect storm.

Luckily I wasn't badly hurt, just some minor neck and back pain. The first gentleman who was hit by the tipper ended up with a fractured verterbra, so I was told, but was expected to recover.

The mental scars are worse, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I've sought counselling as I've realised I've a touch of PTSD. That will heal with time too, I hope.

Edit: to your last point, there's a certain amount of catharsis in opening this up and taking the comments, good and bad. I'll try to take both kinds in a positive manner.
