Hi all I was going to spray a few rushes and docks on one of my fields tomorrow with the knapsack. I don't have too much of them to do.

I have a 12l knapsack. I was wondering as the mix is 2.7litres for 400 litres of water for 2.5ha. I was wonder am I correct in saying that I will need about 81mls of agroxone 50 to be applied in my 12l knapsack? I will be only spot spraying.

Will the agroxone effectively kill docks along with the rushes?

How many weeks should the field be left idle after spraying before livestock come in to graze the field?

    TIA

Agroxone might stunt docks but don't think it will kill them.

From memory it is not recommended to use MCPA with a hand held sprayer, so if you do you should make sure all skin covered, wearing face mask, goggles etc.

Rate of application has many variables. For a sprayer it will also depend on the type of nozzle (ie it's emmision rate per nozzle, which is dependant on the pressure the sprayer is operating at, 3bar is recommended), distance per nozzle, and sprayer capacity.

Last time I used agroxone it's rate was 3.3 l/ha.

This means for example, if you are using a 400l sprayer, with an emmision rate per nozzle of 1.6l/m, spaced 500mm, with a 400l tank and you add 5l of agroxone, you would need to travel at 7.27 km/h to apply at the correct rate.

You can probably measure the rate of the knapsack using a measuring jug and seeing how much it fills in a minute. And the width of spray from a given height should also be measurable.

I make it up 100ml per 5L, so in the 16L knapsack I throw in 300ml and a splash, find it good on rushes, it will kill thistles for this year but doesn't kill the root so they will be back

I sprayed a field with Agroxone 50 with tractor sprayer a couple of weeks after cutting silage so late June last year.

My main target was to kill creeping buttercup, but it also appears to have cleared any docks, rushes and dandelions thst were in the field. Much cleaner crop this year. Very happy with it.

Sprayed some rushes with it aprox 1 month ago. I see they are turning brown already.

I put 130mls into 12 litre so probably far too light. I assume it should still knock them out still?
