Seems like a good deal on Three for the Pixel 9a. €400 unlocked and with the free Fitbit offer. Best price around as far as I can tell....

€430 if you're an existing 3 customer, typical. Loyalty doesn't pay.

Odds of Harvey Norman price matching this?

Thanks for posting this. Apologies for newbie question, If I buy the prepay versiob could I just stick my clearmobile sim into this and off I go?

    Yep - mine came unlocked

Answering my own question.. Harvey Norman will not price match this. At least the one near me won't.

It says the free Fitbit Charge 6 ends tomorrow, for anyone on the fence.

I'd love to know how Three are able to sell Pixel A's unlocked and sometimes hundreds of euro less than what Google does. They had the Pixel 8a for €250 when Google themselves were charging €500+! I'm not complaining as the Pixels are fantastic phones.

It's not just Three. At the same time that Three had the Pixel 8a deal, amazon.co.uk sold the Pixel 8a for 170e which is around a third of the google store price!

They've pulled the free gift offer as I was mid purchase.

Maybe it warrants its own BA post but I'm just after copping that Vodafone are selling the 9a for €400 too but there's a €200 trade-in bonus going on at the minute meaning it's €200 unlocked, plus whatever value the trade-in is worth!

I wonder why eir doesn't sell Pixels. They seem very popular phones.

Wouldn't that be €400 less whatever they value your trade-in at (up to €200 max).

Would be very interested in the 9A if it is indeed €200 off. I ordered the A16 5G for a family member yesterday but worried it won’t be reliable enough for them. Would rather spend €100 more for the 9A if it gives €200 off bringing it to €199 with a working trade in.

Is there a list of what's an acceptable trade in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,841 ✭✭✭romperstomper

Is the trade-in discount available as part of pre-pay?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,515 ✭✭✭davetherave

You need to pick the model, answer a few questions and do a screen test. But it's not €200 off, it's whatever they say it is worth to them. €10, €23, €80 or whatever.

If it is an older phone, there is no harm in pricing up against CEX as well, just to get the cash value. Vodafone would give me 0, 10, and 23 for three phones that are knocking around. CEX would give be 77, 60, and 60 cash (in theory)

Where's the link to this trade in bonus? All I can see is the above posted by davetherave

Just got a Pixel 9a from Three. Inserted a 48 SIM and does not connect to the Network. Is it locked or is there some problem specific to 48?

Got all excited there until I realised they're offering €14 for my phone!!

I plugged in a gomo SIM and it worked fine so something with 48 I'd say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 853 ✭✭✭feargantae

No. There's a €200 "boost" meaning you get €200 for whatever you trade in, minimum, plus whatever the phone is actually worth.

For example if I trade in my 4yr old Galaxy S21 Vodafone will give me €71 plus the €200 boost meaning I'd get €271 in total.

    €400-€271=€129 Pixel 9a.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,626 ✭✭✭frash

have you got a link to that?
I'm not seeing the €200 boost that you're on about

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 853 ✭✭✭feargantae

Go to this link and tap "view offer details", it says there's a boost of €200 on trade-ins for Pixel 9a (et al).

Not much good if you are planning on using the phone on a different network.

is there a minimum here? I have a bunch of older android phones e.g. samsung A50 (2019). Can I walk into vodafone store tomorrow with that phone in my pocket and walk out with a Pixel 9a for 200e?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 853 ✭✭✭feargantae

Maybe I'm wrong but my understanding of that is BillPay customers get the trade in as a credit on their account, but PAYG customers can only do it instore so maybe they get the value off. I could be way off though.

It's also worth noting that Vodafone shops are run by franchisees so it's possible the offer isn't available in all stores either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,127 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

Yeah €200 back in credit from Vodafone isn’t as good for me, I was going to buy it and use my €10 Gomo sim

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,482 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

Trade in value was about a third what CEX offer. Boost could in theory offset this. But TBH it's cheaper to stay on my cheaper network. It's 10 months not 12 which is the kinda penny pinching that puts me off.

Did you transfer any number to Three first ... use a throwaway SIM number and then your 48 sim (that's what you used to have to do before on other pixel offers)
