We are where we are because of

A leveraged buyout by the glazers which has created an increasing year on year debt. Taking massive dividends out of the club.
Nepotistic appointments to the board. Hiring Ed Woodward and refusing to hire a D.o.F.

Complete lack of structure when it comes to to buying and paying players like Pogba, Hargreaves, Mhkitaryan, Falcao, Depay, De Beek, Sancho, Di Maria, Antony, Alexis, Lukaku the list is endless. Massive money lost on all these. Which has led to the current FFP issues and share price ($1000 worth of stock in 2012 is worth $84 today). Poor performance on the pitch in my opinion caused by poor/non existent recruitment structure ,resulting in a lack of prize money, no investment in the club or infrastructure. All stems from the Glazers, no professionalism

The buck stops with the glazers.

No you couldn't fault his effort but the club should strike while the irons hot and interest in him likely at it's highest. He'll have two years left on his contract when he comes back. Another mediocre season and he's into his final year where he most likely leaves on free 12 months later.

I'd say the player himself will most likely want out also. The form he's showing will boost his chances of an international recall. WC in 2026 he'll want to be playing somewhere where he's first choice and impressing to get into the WC squad.

If the 25% increase is true then that would mean he's on 400K a week as is but isn't he meant to be on 300K or 350K. Plus they love to inflate stories about United when money is involved. Like how Antony was on 200K a week.

Its also clear that this season was written off in January by the club. They allowed half our forward line to leave on loan amd brought nobody in. That's setting any manager up for failure. Attack has been pur biggest problem this second half of the season amd that was a deliberate decision by the club.

My concern is that if results don't immediately improve at the start of next season RA is going to be under serious pressure because the results have been so bad this season. As much as I want to see him succeed the team are going to have to start getting results or he's gone, it's really that simple.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Case wasn't on 500k last season.

He may have negotiated not having the reduction.

Didn't Amorim come out and say it was his decision to not bring in anymore players in January.

Amorim made some comments during the week about only signing players who really want to play for the club which is fair enough but he mentioned that players signing for us must not be dependent on CL qualification however most top players with any ambition want to play in the CL. I don't think an ambitious project plan or strategy will be a selling factor.

Was there not a reduction in wages when we failed to qualify for champions league last season though ? Do we only count the increases ?

Amorim shouldn't be judged on this season, he inherited a shitshow and has had injuries to deal with, and miraculously likely to get CL football next season, which is massive as it will help to attract the right type of players. Still think United should be higher than where they are now and if they don't win EL, it's an absolutely atrocious season.

The honeymoon period will be over next season and he has essentially gotten a free pass over the last few months, and if he wins the EL will have credit in the bank and some breathing space but, will need to start next season reasonably well, stay in the top 6/8 in the league and show real progress. A club like United should never finish in the bottom half of the league regardless how bad things are.

No win in 6 PL games, the only sides they have beaten in the PL this year are Fulham and the relegated teams. Averaging 1 point per game since taking over 6 months ago. One PL clean sheet in that time.

Honeymoon period doesn't come close to describing the free ride that Amorim is getting.

IMO Amorim has burnt through his leeway - not saying we need to be competing for 1st next season, but he will struggle to survive any periodsd of poor form next season.

the summer transfer window and pre-season training is hugely important. We have to start next season playing well, offensively and defensively.

If I say Amorim 3 times in the mirror will you know who come and attack me?

I'd like to see a stat for errors that have led to goals conceded as that seems to be a regular feature with United.

Bilbao will know if they score early United will panic ..very cliché but the first 20mins is so important on Thursday

Yesterday shows we need a better sub goalie too, God what I'd give for this man

I doubt any manager would be happy with that decision being honest.

He will be judged better when he gets in players of his own choosing, right now he is dealing with players from previous managers!

waiting for every manager to populate the team with their own players before they can be judged is just asking for a very expensive never ending hamster wheel of doom. The lowest bar for any new manager is to do better with the players you have than the previous guy did. Do that, and you earn the time and finances to develop things further.

Giving out those resources without that trust being established first is a risky move.

We were ridiculously blessed he seemed happy out being a back up. He'd have comfortably been a starter for all non top 4 sides

Maddison out for the seadon is a blow for Spurs...IF United meet Spurs in the final thats one less attacking threat to deal with. He played well vs United last time out and scored if i remember correctly

it seems the main outlet reporting this is the daily star, and the current wage is with the 25% non CL qualification included.

disaster if true, but also very good cos it means we win europa league.

But there was no talk that he was on 500k a week last season, and we were in the CL last season (briefly…)
So i would doubt he will be on that next season if we make the CL.

Players do, in general, have different pay level in the CL, but it is negotiable. It is possible that hsi agent didn't accept it in the first place so his wage is just hiis wage.

Ndidi has a relegation clause of 9m granted he wasn't pulling up trees last year but 9m would barely buy an unproven player from the Championship.

Bilbao played their full first team in the league this weekend so they seem to be focusing on CL qualification through league position rather than Europa but I fully agree. It doesn't even need to be an early goal if they are 1-0 at around 60 minutes that will be plenty of time for us to fall apart. Lyon scored four against us in 35 minutes and were down to ten for 15 of those minutes…

First goal is crucial. We score first and I think it's curtains for Bilbao.

Absolutely you cannot wait for a manager to get his own players to judge him but that's not what is happening here.

There has been a clear shift in transfer policy over the last 12 months. The last few signings have all been of a certain profile. Young and athletic. Dorgu for example is not limited to playing in a back 5 if we have to change manager. Neither is Heaven or Yoro etc.

Now of course, any manager is going to need a few players to fit into his system and that's reasonable. There is no doubt that the results in the league have been awful. But I would argue that the team is actually getting better bit by bit from a system point of view. Injuries have severely hampered us and our forward line has been awful. The physical profile of the team has been probably the worst in the league this season and we just don't score goals.

I think we are on the right track with Amorim and I expect that we will see a discernable change in how we play next season.

Amorim has got a fairly easy ride and that's totally understandable imo. How can you judge a manager too harshly when the team hasn't got a couple of goalscorers in it.

It looks like he will get those players this summer and we should expect a big improvement. It's hard to put a place on it but if we aren't in contention for spots in or around 5th-8th, that would be disappointing.
