Social media reactions (not sure how reliable they are...) very positive.

Actual reviews seem to still be embargoed until April 29th.

i was reading some the the reactions shown on the marvel social media… i'd like to see what those same people said about Brave New World or Quantumania..

That must be Nigel with the brie...

It seems like they are trying to keep the villain(s) under wraps 🤔

Hopefully Florence Pugh is the central focus character here, looks it from the trailer.

Very interesting choice of director here, someone who is extremely good at exploring relationships. Hopefully that's the crux here , because after that trailer it looks like a generic marvel storyline with a redemption angle.

How do you pronounce her name? That welsh woman on the One Show called her Florence Poo. I thought it was said like pew, in a church.

Not enjoyed or been to a Marvel movie in the cinema since "No Way Home" but this does look promising so may actually go see "Thunderbolts Asterisk" this week after all.

Not bad. Don't think I'll be bothering with it though.

I am off Friday, think I will go and see it in the morning. Reviews look good!

    I’ll be going on Saturday.

The tagline has me confused. Does the “super” mean something else other than superpowers?

They all have superpowers. Even the Widows can be classed as supers because of their conditioning and skills,

I love the poster that has them at each other’s throats with Yelana looking fed up.

I really really enjoyed this! Best MCU film in a long time.

Some great laughs, fun action, the chemistry and dialogue between the team was the high point.

Pugh fantastic, Pullman quietly brilliant, Harbour hilarious, louis-dreyfus deliciously OTT. Other cast excellent too.

So we now know the Thunderbolts are really "the New Avengers" or maybe avengerz depending on the battle for copyright :)

RIP taskmaster we hardly knew ye.

I wasn't expecting a big budget MCU film focussed on depression and mental illness but here we are!

Plenty of CGI but not the weightless CGI crashy smashy ending which is a really nice change.

I also noticed the black shadows smeared on wall in that first action set piece so thought it might go back to that as sort of finale.

    Post credits good too.

Delighted red guardian got onto a cereal box too lol.

Fantastic 4 incoming on a spacecraft.

I enjoyed it, pleasant surprise, good performances with some weighty themes in the 3rd Act. Hopefully the beginning of an upswing that will see us through Fantastic 4 and Avengers 5 & 6.

They need to keep leaning on Harbour going forward. His Red Guardian is fantastic and has the perfect balance of comedy and seriousness, obviously mostly with Yelena but just in general his interactions with anyone are a delight.

His brief chat with Bucky about serums was gold.

Really enjoyed that. A lot more character-driven, humour doesn't overstay its welcome or get driven into the ground, decent enough action, holds more interest than big CGI battle third act.

I loved The Sentry stories from the comics, and thought they actually did a great job of making it MCU-ified.

Yeah, really liked it a lot. Reminded me that I haven't even watched Captain America BNW yet.

Not a fan, found it quite slow and dull.

I enjoyed just after Walker stopped the debris crushing the civilian and the rest of them teamed up to push it away fully.

Most of the team are baffled/uncomfortable by the applause they then get........and Alexei is just saluting and waving to his adoring fans.

Enjoyable. Pew Pew is excellent, a wonderful actor and her accent was spot on. Harbour is great comic relief. JLD was entertaining as well. Nice action scenes and I liked how the friendships within the team developed throughout. It is nice to get a break from all the lazy multiverse stuff too.

One thing about the new wave of Marvel films though, the writers tend to assume you have watched the entire output of movies and shows and don't make much of an effort for viewers who just dip in and out. For example Yelena mentioned the death of her sister but I had no idea who her sister was or that she was an important character until I read it in a review afterwards. They could easily have shown a brief clip or a photo to clear it up.

Something else annoying that caught my attention is the extras, they act like NPCs with poor AI. There was a big fight on the street with gunfire and the extras either ignored it or casually glanced over and then went about their day. People scream and run for cover when they hear gunfire irl.

Overall though it is a good film well worth a watch.

One thing that I really enjoyed was that Bob was probably one of the most 3 dimensional of villains that we've seen in Marvel. Plus he redeemed himself. Pullman also played it beautifully. They also treated mental health in a pretty decent way which often isn't the case with villain arcs.

I've not seen any of the Marvel series on Disney Plus. How big of a problem is that? I might go see this today but I only recognise some of the characters.

I was an avid Marvel fan from the 70s through to the 90s, but I stopped buying/reading Marvel comics in the late 90s/early 2000s. I'd never read a Deadpool comic, was not around for Thanos, and don't remember much X-Men past Phoenix/Days of Future Past. Not especially a problem.

The only back story you really need is John Walker was given the Captain America mantle, used too many drugs/got screwed up by the super-soldier-serum, lost it, killed someone in cold blood, and lost the role, that was then given to Sam Wilson/Falcon; and Red Guardian is the "dad" of Yelena/White Widow and the late Black Widow. I had no idea who Ghost, Sentry or Valentina were, apart from seeing their cards in Marvel Snap.

Honestly works fine, Walker is basically Captain America without the idealism. It's really good fun, you'll like it.

    Yes Pullman was great

I thought JLD was hamming it up OTT but it worked

A good chemistry between the new Avengerz
