I wonder, do they mean just hospitals with A&E, ICU, etc? Or open 24/7?

That second map does consider Dungloe to be a hospital - well, it is owned and operated by the HSE at least.

It has markers for all the HSE nursing homes in Donegal as far as I can tell. Basically Donegal has Letterkenny - full service but no specialities - and in the South of the county, you'll go to Sligo. All the other things there do, at best, some xray appointments. You wouldn't want to waste time going in an emergency!

You'll be helicoptered out to Letterkenny or Sligo from the very rural parts of the county.

Any chance of a bit of an oul' legend at all?

In particular, what's the distinction between Russia and Belarus?

There was no legend with the map , but while Russia still has the death penalty there's a moratorium on it since 1996 . Belarus last one was 2019

The reality is that for the last few years is that Russia forces prisoners to 'join' the army, sends them to Ukraine and makes them take part in human wave attacks.

In anticipation of a possible German invasion, a series of GHQ "Stop" Lines were built across the UK

Some concrete Pillboxes from the Stop-lines still exist today.

i had the same initial thought - but the map is badly skewed by the way the banding is arranged. there are six bands; but they're not bands of equal size, and the lowest band is 'less than 50%' so in that sense equivalent in size to all other bands combined.

'less than 50% within 15 minutes' will hide a lot of actually OK data alongside a lot of dirty data.

i live very near DCU and according to google maps view of current traffic (light enough), i'm 12 minutes drive from both the mater and beaumont.

They've all been built in much, much reduced dimensions, in a single village/ town. There were pictures of them in Cool Pics in CVPL, I'll see if I can dig them out later.

The red zone has the most intense concentration of WW1 ordnance where virtually no new development may occur.

    https://warhistory.org/%40msw/article/royal-navy-versus-kriegsmarine-norway-1940

During the invasion of Norway the Kriegsmarine lost half of their Destroyers, in part because the Royal Navy sent a battleship deep into the confined waters of a fiord.

Of the light cruisers Königsberg and Karlsruhe were sunk in Noway leaving Emden, Koln , Leipzig and Nürnberg and some of them needed repairs.

The heavy cruisers fared ever worse, Graf Spee had already been scuttled in South America, had run aground Blücher got sunk by obsolete weapons. Hipper was badly damaged by a collision with Glowworm. Lützow ran aground and was out of action.

The battlecruiser Renown had taken on both Scharnhorst and Gneisenau and because of rules to avoid damage they fled. Both were damaged later in the Norwegian campaign so were out of action. Bismark and Tirpitz weren't ready yet.

For operation Sealion it would nearly have been Prinz Eugen and escorts vs RN. (There were also 7 destroyers and 16 torpedo-boats (light destroyers) and I can't remember if it was 3? light cruisers)

After loosing the Battle of Britain the Luftwaffe would not have air supremacy over the Channel so the Kriegsmarine would be at the mercy of night-ambush specialists who had better, more reliable radars and used them.

Not that coverage of the Channel was absolute, mind, as the Channel Dash showed. Though of course, that’s a slightly different matter to supporting an invasion.
