I wasn't even trying to be sarcastic, though. Tbh if we are still here after the mess this site has become since the downgrade,it's because we'll stay here (complaining, but here) until the lights go out.

We're institutionalised. I've tried to use reddit but it's not as good.

Odhran bought the business with his own hard earned cash. Boards belongs to him and nobody else. As such, he's perfectly entitled to do with it as he wishes. He can be involved or not involved. However, I think it would be a nice touch - and ultimately commercially smart possibly - to show an appreciation of where Boards has come from. Maybe not from the Boards side but from the user side there is still some sense of community.

Usually, smart business is to keep the cards close to the chest, particularly in uncertainty. Where we are now It would be a nice for the business's most valuable asset, us users, to know if we are helping by providing these functionality reports or wasting our time while we sit wondering if we will have a Boards in 6 months.

Mobile still doing it, it started for me a couple of months ago, I scroll down a page and it will jump back to top, answer just close boards and do something else.

The menu bar thing is partially fixed. The bar isn't covered by the top bar, but instead some of it scrolls over the rest when you scroll down, but the grey bar stays fixed. I don't think it's meant to do that.

Edit: it's since changed again, the grey bar isn't stuck and scrolls up with the rest.

Just made a discovery! You know how when you click the 'mark all read' button on the bell icon (laptop) and either nothing happens or they clear, then as soon as you go to the next page they come back again? Well if you go to the next page first, then clear the notification bell list, they clear and stay cleared. A minor detail but satisfying to do.

    Firefox and chrome.

I lose access to the Topics section when I scroll down.

When at top of page, it looks like this:

The top toolbar menu seems partially fixed BUT if you click your drop downs and there's an advert it hides behind it.

Since yesterday I've been getting logged out repeatedly. Logging in doesn't work, as my password is not recognised. Moving around to a few pages gets me back in, but then it happens again, and keeps doing so. Samsung Galaxy, Chrome.

I don't think it would be unreasonable to request a weekly or even a bi-weekly update from Mike.

He might have taken annual leave or be off sick. He's the only Boards' staff left, as far as I know.

He was last online on Friday evening, but hasn't posted here in over a month. A simple update once a fortnight even just to confirm that the issue is still being looked into would be nice.

In that case, let's just pray he hadn't resigned. 😬😰

He was pretty clear he would only really update when there was anything new to form an actual update - I understand that approach given he's got to be all day firefighting this place.

I'm not obviously clued in just parroting what he has previously said

I hope he's Matt Damon'd it and escaped the situation to better things without us realising it. Good Mike Hunting.

Hunters have to get into super stealth mode sometimes 😅…….

I am still here. I could not leave you all to fend for yourselves in the maze, plus I would miss the challenge of this place. Apologies for not interacting with this thread here. I do not have much to update on but i do appreciate that even without big news you guys would like me to check in here.

The issues that we all face on site everyday are still looming and they are looking to be looming over us for some time yet. I appreciate how frustrating that is to hear, especially with the more irritating bugs like the page jumping. This issues are proving especially difficult to untangle, owing to past and present features implemented by Vanilla and how they interact with the customisations carried forward by Boards. I would like you to know that I am not just sitting back and watching the fires grow. I am interacting with Vanilla trying to get us to a better place.

Happy Bealtaine… lets hope the Summer is a good one.

Fair play, now all I can think of is this:

Can I ask Mike, if the fix that brought on the jumping is worth keeping or is it the case if it's reverted the jumping stays anyway? Which is the worst of 2 evils what was fixed or what was caused by the fix?

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

This is not down to a particular fix. It is due to many factors including the elected and non elected changes and features released by vanilla that are in constant combat with Boards customisations. Customisations that were initially developed to maintain the sites original functionality in are that Vanilla did not have the capabilities to offer. This makes it very difficult to track down a root cause. It’s a history of one tweak after another. It is not just one developer in charge of one change or one product team in charge of one site.

I don't mean this as a personal criticism whatsoever, but this was the exact reason why we were told that vBulletin had to go. Yet here we are again with a patchwork that breaks whenever the core is updated. The only long-term solution in this case is another migration to a platform that actually has most of these features out of the box, so the customisations won't be necessary.

    @Boards.ie: Mike

Is the actual developer of the Boards custom modifications still available?

If not, who is maintaining and updating the code and testing new builds?

There would seem to be a number of very able programmers here on this thread, and I'm sure one or more of them could give valuable assistance if asked.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor.
