    Round and round we go…..

Sean, we've all been through this before. Gaza needs a certain amount of aid. israel refuses to let through that amount of aid. Now they're letting in less.

Remember when the Americans had to build a pier? Remember when they had to airdrop aid because Israel wouldn't let it in? rem, ember when trucks were destroyed by settlers on the way in?

I'm wondering if you'll watch that Louis Theroux documentary. If you do, will you be cheering on the Israelis who are kicking Palestinians off their land?

This is the longest blockade since the start of the war. In an article I read on Msn, the UN declared famine is in Gaza. 50 children died so far due to starvation and malnutrition.

BTW as far as I know, the 'aid' goes directly to Hamas, they get first dibs and sell the rest to the locals.

I'd like to see a credible 3rd party take over aid distribution in Gaza.

What are you trying to say with the above, that it's ok to withhold food to everyone because Hamas are in Gaza? Or are you saying the famine has nothing to do with Israel??

International law requires that the occupier delivers humanitarian aid directly to those who need it.

Israel cannot shirk its international legal responsibilities by stating that "Hamas are stealing it" - that does not wash, especially as they have also banned UNWRA. I suspect this was planned all along to starve the Palestinians to death but use Hamas as the scapegoat.

Of course, Israel has now gone further and not allowed any aid in for two months. That is why the ICJ is hearing the case from the UN and will issue an advisory opinion.

What aid? They haven't let food/water/medicines in for 57 days. That's fact. It's against all international humanitarian laws. Can you at least acknowledge that?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

I'm amazed that Israel's supporters aren't aware of the basic tenets of international humanitarian law such as that an occupying country are obliged to provide civilians under their occupation with food, water and medicines, never mind not deliberately kill them.

It seems that in order to be a zionist, you have to suspend your humanity and all respect for human life.

They are aware of it, as it has been stated many times, they just don't give a flying duck about it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,325 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Yes, it seems that international humanitarian law is completely meaningless when it comes to Israel (in their eyes). The regime gets a free pass and can do whatever the hell it pleases to civilians in Gaza, without any accountability or repercussions.

"Hamas are stealing it" is simply another lie one has to cling to in order to support Israel.

keep an eye on the ICJ… whilst their opinions are not binding, they are respected (by respectable signatories).

Hearings are on for five days I think. Opinion might be a few days/weeks.

Can you clarify what you are trying to say above plz @SeanW , I can't make sense of it

Been saying that since the thread was very young. Just like the lack of empathy or any kind of care in ' the region's' only Democracy' and in those who back it.

The 'light of freedom' at it as usual -

"The embattled UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Unrwa, has accused Israel of abusing dozens of its staff in military detention and using some as human shields.

The head of the agency, Philippe Lazzarini, said that more than 50 staff members, including teachers, doctors and social workers, had been detained and abused since the start of the 18 month-long war in Gaza.

“They have been treated in the most shocking & inhumane way. They reported being beaten + used as human shields,” Lazzarini wrote on X.|"

Yes, the Americans once air-dropped aid. Hamas told them to stop. The US did actually build a temporary pier, but it only ran for a couple of months and had some controversy.

I'll need to set aside some time to watch the documentary.

Yes, the Americans once air-dropped aid.

They dropped aid more than "once".

    Hamas told them to stop

This is misleadingly disingenuous. Air drops landed on people and killed some, they have enough to be worrying about don't you think? Some even landed in the sea as parachutes failed. Hamas requested the aid be sent in by truck, which is a completely reasonable request. But Israel have weaponised it and the denial of aid is a war crime.

The US air aid was a joke; woefully lacking and a move that showed Biden was weak.

But that's not nearly as controversial so a one liner suits you better.

Gonna watch that Settlers episode in a while. My old American friend, who posts on Facebook justifying the killing of 13-year-old Palestinian boys because that is within the age group for Hamas, loves Louis Theroux. Maybe I should send it to him.

I watched the Louis Theroux documentary and the Oscar winning one No Other Land in the last couple of days. No Other Land is available on the Channel 4 player if anyone wants to watch it.

The Louis Theroux one wasn't nearly as hard hitting as I expected. I often felt watching it that I was just watching some whackos being whackos. You have to remind yourself that these guys are backed up by an army and actively taking people's homes. One of the more chilling moments I felt in the documentary was when he spent time with the Palestinian man and they were told that the Palestinian was no longer allowed to walk past a certain line. Even with the BBC cameras, he didn't dare even protest. He was clearly terrified of the IDF.

No Other Land on the other hand was chilling throughout. The kids being brought out of the homes to watch it be demolished in front of them - I can't imagine what that must feel like. They must live in a constant state of terror. The army arriving at the school one day - it's beyond terrifying. They take the building materials from the Palestinians and one tries to hold onto a generator. At this stage they're living in a cave and this is their electricity. They shoot him in front of his mother. He is paralyzed from the neck down. Then the close the road to the hospital so his mother can't even visit him. Settlers arrive throwing rocks at the locals. They're accompanied by IDF in case any of the Palestinians react. From start to finish, that documentary is chilling. The Israelis must know what's going on. I don't understand how they aren't out in droves protesting what their country is doing.

You should. Never miss a chance to change minds.

It's fascinating so far. Taking a break to take it all in. The settlers are religious fanatics and the soldiers just seem to have this knowing that what they're doing is wrong. They're just young men given supreme power. It's sad this exists anywhere.

Haven't watched that no man's land yet - is that the one where the main kid in it is a child of some Hamas person, but it wasn't portrayed like that? That's what the criticism was of it if I remember rightly - but not sure if that is some kind of propaganda against it or if true.

The one where one of the co-directors was attacked by settlers then detained by the IDF shortly after winning the Oscar.

    The settlers are religious fanatics

    Isaiah 9:18
For wickedness burns like a fire; it consumes briers and thorns; it kindles the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.

'' Hamas told them to stop ''

Anything to back that up or is it another untruth?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,833 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Hostage families continue to tell it like it is. This war is not about rescuing the hostages - it is about ethnically cleansing Gaza.

Yehuda Cohen, father of hostage Nimrod, said that far-right ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich are pushing to conquer Gaza instead of reaching a cease-fire and bringing back the hostages. "[Ben-Gvir and Smotrich] want to keep fighting not to break Hamas – Smotrich has said in the past that Hamas is an asset – but to take advantage of October 7, all of the murder, suffering, burning, rape from that day, to conquer Gaza and establish settlements," he said, adding that Netanyahu is delaying the hostages' return for his own political and personal benefit.

And to drive the point home, Israel clearly intends to continue its operations on all fronts - Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and Syria.

They really have acquired a taste for full on mass killings.

The IDF is set to begin issuing draft orders to tens of thousands of reservists ahead of an expected expansion of the fighting in Gaza, according to army officials. Some reservists will be deployed to operations in Lebanon and Syria, and others will be stationed in the West Bank. The reservists will be deployed to replace conscript units, which will be moved south and begin preparing for operations in Gaza. Some reservists have been informed they will be required to take part in combat inside Gaza.

The lad captured during the murder of the 15 medics has been released.

God knows what he was being held for. Along with the thousands of other Palestinian hostages.

    • On Tuesday, the IDF released Gazan paramedic Asaad al-Nassasra, over a month after soldiers opened fire on a convoy of ambulances in southern Gaza, killing 15 aid workers and arresting him. According to Hamas' Prisoners Ministry, five other Palestinians held in Israel were released alongside al-Nassasra.

It's noticeable that the one topic that attracts the biggest number of sociopaths and loons across all of social media is the support for Israel's bombing of Gaza. Most of the other far right talking points and items on the MAGA bingo card barely get a look in in comparison - if a person is an obvious bigot with zero empathy for other human beings, they'll be on the platforms expressing their support for Israel and the killing of civilians.

Yes, those pesky Israelis intervened in Syria to protect the Druze community from being slaughtered by genocidal Islamists.

Israel says it struck gunmen attacking Syrian Druze after clashes

And of course let's not forget that Israel was attacked by Lebanese militants for about a year starting 8th of October 2023, but hey, why let the facts get in the way of some good, old fashioned Jew sorry "Israel" or "Zionist" bashing.

    Whataboutery in all its glory.

And yes, Israel was attacked by Hezbollah.

That they then went into Lebanon and murdered a load of Lebanese civilians seems to not bother you.

And as you are aware, there is currently only one state in the region before the ICJ for Genocide and War Crimes.
