    5000 km update.

Average consumption is at 16.6kwh/100km. Quite alot of motorway in that. Such a comfortable car and I've never felt so fresh after a long run.

DC charging has been good, max I've seen is 90kw from about 40%. Will be interesting to see it from the lower percentages.

Boot space is great, bike can be put straight in the back with seats folded down. Space in the back is fabulous for the family, they're very happy with it, herself loves the rear armrest and reclining seats.

Picked up a dongle for wireless AA which works well. Apple carplay works well with the work phone too.

What can I say? It's just a great all round car, I can't understand the negative reviews it gets. Every bit as efficient as my M3 on 19's.

Good update. Very different car to the M3 and nice to hear a report from someone who has swapped over. You got a brilliant deal there.

You're correct, it's very different. The M3 is a great car, a drivers car. Tesla leads the way with it's software, Toyota nowhere near it.

Cahersiveen to East Cork today, 180kms and averaged 12.7 kwh/100km. 500kms from 100% at that rate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Certain 500km drives are theoretically possible but others not a hope, hit a motorway for 200kms and you'll be another 50% above 12.7.

64kwh usable isn't it? I can just about get 350kms on a high enough speed drive in the born 58kwh usable or 450 in the tavascan 77kwh usable. That's absolute max on a good day at 100kmph average. Got 330kms from 80% in an ev6 on Saturday on motorway was down to 2% when I charged!

I'd imagine there's lots of slower roads on that trip is there?

But once it's enough for what you will want to use it for that's all that matters really.

Slower roads until Killarney, faster after that with some motorway in there too, average speed was 70 Kph.

You should comfortably do that return in all situations if its a regular enough drive for you. Nice car, enjoy the cheap driving

Just went in the local Toyota for my 3rd servicing of the Bz4x (45k km) at 14 months. We'll see what the service price is from now one.... anyway... I saw this Bz4x in the showroom, and it seemed to be a higher version (cameras all around, including in the rear view mirrors and the front of the car, roof rails, infrared heating panels, etc.

I asked the man there if there is a price increase and he said no, and it's being sold with the normal price. Which in the website is around 43k, but their car finance calculator only has 48k as a sale price.

Anyone with an idea what is the actual price of the Bz4x nowadays?

    Thank you.

€47k on some ads alright for the Sport trim. Was it the Sport trim you were looking at?

Or it’s the Premiere Trim that seems to have the cameras etc.

I was of the impression that they only sold the Sport version in Ireland.

The 1st one I got in 2023 was Sport, and so was the 2nd one, I got in March 24.

I know they have another more basic edition, but as far as I knew, that wasn't sold here.

I think the configurator may have removed the other models in order to sell off current stock?

    Isint there a facelift due?

I'll confirm with the if what I saw on display is sport and if it goes for 43k and see what terms they offer if I give my one back.

    Thank you for the info

You seriously considering a third one? Why not wait for the facelift?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭petronelduca

I am a bit weird that way….when it gets into my head, there is no going back ;). The 2nd one I have is not taken sepparate to the 1st one, I just returned the initial one. We do many miles (I have 46k km on it now in a bit over 1 year) so my "fear" is that, if I extrapolate that for the lenght of the PCP, I 'll get heavily penalized.

Plus, if the new price is 43, then it is possible that my monthly payment won't increase (too much).

I wasn't aware there is a facelift coming, thank you for letting me know, I will have a look at this.

If the new one is less than you thought, your trade in value will probably be lower too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭petronelduca

You're absolutely correct, but in my view, this will be the case anyway, at any stage of the PCP. There will be a loss on my side, no doubt, and I accept this. If my personal circumstances won't change in the next 3 years, I don't want to imagine what the ywill say when I go back with the car on 180k km instead of 100k (from the contract).

I'll probably be forced to keep it and pay the nearly 16k at the end of it. Which would not be the worst thing, as it is a great car so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Yeah being happy to keep the car is always a good place to be.

Doing those kinds of distances always going to be expensive no matter what way you do your deals.

3 ugly pieces of depreciation though, no?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭petronelduca

It is kinda' given when you go in with PCP, and I realized that from the get-go. On the flip side, in 2020 I got my 1st new car, a CHR SOL, which I returned 3 years later and only lost 2k from the "new"price…..amazing times, when I had a huge positive equity, which allowed me to comfortably get the 1st Bz4x.

Times are different now though, but I like risk. I bought my 1st EV in 2016, a 2014 Leaf, without trying it before, except the day I bought it. No regrets whatsoever. I have friends still deciding if they want to switch to EV, so I appreciate we are all wired differently.

You should be doing OK with savings on fuel bills doing those kinds of mileages, somewhat offsetting it. Assuming you're charging at home rates

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭petronelduca

home charger rates, plus my employer kinldy offers free charging at work (240km away thugh). To me personally, the car fits like a glove.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,320 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

The later model years certainly have done wonders for Toyota's perception in the EV market. Do you find the interiors a bit skimpy? I only have taxi trips to go by though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭petronelduca

Toyota does not produce the most visually exciting cars (I am talking about the normal, average models) and I was aware if it when choosing the brand.

I find the interior very "correct", no more no less. The weekly return trip I take to Dublin ( from Galway) is extremelly comfortable, I feel no stiffness after 3 hours continuous driving.

The biggest flaw of these cars is the infotainment piece, which is still back in the 2000's. My Leaf had better options (except the display quality) than the Bz4x. But I also knew that when I bought it and managed my expectations.

If you know what you are getting into, it is an excellent purchase.

I can't compare with the rivals EV6, Ionic5 as I have never been into one, but I admit, looking through the side window, they look years ahead of the bz4x.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,117 ✭✭✭JohnySwan

I find the same, I've never been so fresh after a long journey.

Funny you mention the EV6, I test drove one just before I bought the bZ4X and I was very happy getting back in to my M3, same with the BYD Seal, horrible thing imo.

2025 bz seems to have cameras all around. I can spot the camera on the wing mirror going past. I heard somewhere it was an standard upgrade, probably to try keep it competitive.

Didn't know about infra red heaters too.

For my fourth service, I went to my dealer in South Dublin and it was 260 euros. For my fifth service, I went to the most famous leader in North Dublin and it costs me only 120 euros. They valeted the interior of the car also. See the difference. It was a very great price because back in my home country India, we have a Suzuki Baleno which can be compared to an Aygo which costs usually three times this amount.

For a tyre change, outside garage said 260 euros. This dealer said only 200 euros.

Thank you for the info Vimal.

I'll be sure to shop around for my next service, even though, hopefully I'll get a new bz4x by that time.

Finance deal was also great. They don't even consider the extra kilometers we run in PCP. They just consider only the resale value. In terms of resale value, I lost some money because bz4x price from that time of 52K reduced to 42K now, Two years back, I remember the original dealer in South Dublin calculated 40 cents for each extra km as per the PCP contract.
