For the second year in a row, Virgin Media take a break during the women's 200m and cut it from the broadcast 😬

Faith was just .23 of a second outside of the 1k record of 2:28.98. .08 seconds under her PB of 2:29.15.

Can't see her breaking four minutes for the mile if her best 1k time is 4 minute mile pace. Don't know how she could hold another 609m

Yeah, it'll be a tough ask alright to go sub-4. However bear in mind she'll have male pacers all the way so the drafting may be worth a few seconds, plus she'll have the benefit of whatever non-elegible shoes they come up with (the sub-4 attempt isn't intended to be legal, same as Kipchoge's sub-2 marathon). Hell, they may even go for a 10 metre flying start to gain a few tenths!

Didn't know it was that sort of attempt. I suppose with that in mind a few seconds off is nearly guranteed. 7 seconds though? We will have to wait and see.

Looks like Peter Lynch broke the Irish marathon record in Dusseldorf, running 2:09:36 for 3rd place. Fearghal Curtin was 4th in 2:11:35

Grand Slam Track Miami starting now on TNT Sport 1.

    Startlists here

    https://www.grandslamtrack.com/events/miami

One person who won't be running is Fred Kerley after getting himself arrested at the base hotel for the event

Second time being arrested this year, the first was for an altercation with police back in January 🤨

World record for the women's 100m hurdles with the worst camera angle ever. An experiment which I hope ends here.

Wasn't a world record, Amusan has run 12.12. Russell's time is the second fastest of all time though.

Agreed with the camera angle, not sure if it was a mistake of not. Horrific.

Oh really, I thought that the commentators were saying it was a record. I must go back and watch it again.

Well there's plenty of time with this event to go back and watch something again. Cram's co-commentator did seem to think it was a world record at the start.

Yeah the commentators got it wrong for whatever reason, must've forgotten about Amusan. Wish Amusan could be forgotten about tbh 😌

Great women's 5000, Ngetich frontrunning her way to 14:25 with no pacers or wavelights. Great job to hold off Eisa too.

Coscoran victorious in the men's 3000m! Slow time in 8:17, but good job to out kick Grant Fisher

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,040 ✭✭✭deisedude

It was comically slow start with nobody wanting to set the pace but unbelievable last 100m from Coscoran to go from 4th to 1st

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,012 ✭✭✭Jakey Rolling

Brian Fay 13;12 for the 5000m, not too shabby but will need 13 flat to auto qualify for Words

That'll be a tough ask to go 13:00.9x. His PB is 13:01.4 which is our National record is my memory is correct. He can if he gets it right but will need the right race.

Was watching diomand league today - only 4/5 went at worlds qualifying pace, lights were set too. 3 ethiopians, one kenyan and can't remember the 5th who were all in the 12:50 to 13:00.xx range.

Good run for Coscoran. Fisher was different class but 3rd in the 5K when it's not his distance and a $50k cheque is a good return from his weekends work

Cracking race in the women's 3000, won by Hirut Meshesha with a big 8:22 PB. Also looking forward to seeing what Agnes Ngetich can do in the Diamond League with pacemaking and wavelights.

Great weekend for Andrew Coscoran taking home 50,000.

    Really enjoying GST so far!

Enjoyed GST a lot more this time out than Jamaica. Commercially though it must be making major losses, huge prize pots and small crowds. They would need to have massive TV and sponsorship deals

Yes I'm not sure how its viable, take away the commentary and one or two camera angles and it looks like a small dublin graded meeting in terms of attendance. 44k for third place is a lot.
