    No.

The MkII Escort had a 2.0 Pinto engine complete with a twin choke carb, and points.

That later Mondeo engine will have electronic ignition, fuel injection, a cat, and is an entirely different power plant.

On the basis that you are looking to modify the Escort for competition (or similar) use, the Duratec can be used assuming it is in compliance with the applicable regs. However because you will be putting a transverse FWD engine into a RWD application, there will be a lot of mods required. As well as the issues flagged by Henry Ford above, you will need new engine mounts, relocate oil filters, new exhaust manifold, clutch & flywheel (and possibly bell housing, depending on what gearbox your plan to use). Depending on which engine was already in it ( Pinto or Crossflow), the exhaust routing itself may have to change sides

This will give you an idea of the extent (and cost) of the parts

At some point, most engines (Vauxhall XE, Toyota 4AGE, Duratecs, Zetecs, Subaru, Rotary, Rover V8…) have been tried out in Escorts. There is generally a wealth of knowledge online about many of these swaps.

Yes this is a common enough conversion for Competition cars (although the Vauxhall engine is probably more common) and Resto Mods.

Mefistofelino sums it up well as to the modifications required. It is by no means any easy, quick or cheap conversion.

We are fortunate to have one of the worlds best manufacturers and suppliers of Ford MK2 competition body and fabrication parts located here in Ireland.

A quick search on their site will give you an idea of the parts required. and that is just to mount it to the car. After that will be all the electrics to get it to run. Gearbox, modified prop shaft, radiator cooling system etc etc. Along with the necessary fabrication required to do the job

It really does depend on your intended use. Although if it an improved weekend classic Resto Mod type of car you may find your only source of suitable conversion parts will come from the Rally Car world.

The only item usable from the donner car shown would be the engine and engine electrics if you intend to keep it standard.

It all comes down to budget, intended use and what is in the car now. A nice slightly modified 2.0ltr Pinto engine and type 9 five speed gearbox maybe the better option.

Because of the popularity of the MK2 there is lots of information out there it's just a matter of figuring out what works best for you.
