In reality Tesla was the first Meme stock it's just nobody knew it at the time and it's maintained it's value for that reason as there's no valid market or financial reason beyond "hur dur stonks"

So you don’t think the Optimus robot isn’t a potential $10 trillion industry?

I just think Musk has been very quiet. During the last week I read that someone he appointed to the IRS was removed and there were some really serious allegations made against DOGE.

An article on the Independent today suggests Musk wants to step back from the political side of things due to the effect it's had on his businesses and the constant attacks towards him from "the left".

So seems like he may have realised he's in the "find out" part of "F*ck around and find out".

It’s a trillion dollar industry but the leaders are in Europe, Google and soon China where likes of BYD already have giant robotic factories

Like AI Elon is far far behind the leaders

Maybe once a company is up and running and about to breakthrough, Elon can buy them and then just claim he did all the hard work.

Too late for that. He's done far too much damage.

Yeah nothing he does in that regard is going to change things now. He has utterly exposed himself and completely eroded the veil of "tech genius" he spent so long trying to create

Guided at 41 cents per share on sales of 21.2 billion Tesla manages to miss target by ~ 38% coming in at 19 cents per share.

Very much winning...... poison CEO and idiot to boot. More ramblings about optimus vapourware and self driving again... and playing down tariffs impact to their business.

The whole house of cards is about to come crashing down.

The ENTIRE value proposition for Tesla was that people bought into Musks "plan for the future" and they bought the idea that Tesla would be the ones to cash in on Automation , Self driving etc. etc.

The last 6-9 months of Musk showing the world who he really is have utterly ruined that position.

No one believes what Musk has to say any more and no one believes that he and/or his companies are going to be the ones that cash in on an AI Driven Robotic future.

So now , people look at the fundamentals and see a wildly over-valued dog of a company propped up by Government funding and grants.

It'll be a slow death as the sunk cost fallacy will keep people on board for way longer than they should , but the demise of the Musk empire is inevitable now.

If this was a normal car company, sure, but it's not normal and the stock isn't normal. Profits could collapse by another 50% and the stock could do it's meme thing - decoupled from reality or fundamentals

Agree , the stock price has never been connected to real financial business fundamentals.

The stock was viewed like a tech start-up and people were buying into the vision of the future pitched by Musk with Tesla at the centre of this new world in the hope of cashing in at some future date.

They were never looking at this years Revenues or even next years - They were looking at the "potential" revenue in 5-10 years time.

There were lots and lots of Major, high profile investors that were buying in - Cathy Wood and many others were aligned with that vision.

Those guys are gone now (or quietly extracting themselves) so all that is left are the same kind of MAGA loons that are buying Trumps Truth Social shares.

They aren't going to be enough to prop the stock price up for the medium to long term.

Like I said , it'll be a slow death because of the meme-stock loons and those investors that hang on in vain hope of being able to turn a profit.

But that death is unavoidable now , all caused by Musk showing the world that the Emperor is a naked far-right loon.

I disagree. Lots of companies partner with governments for various things. The only thing special about Tesla is that it has a CEO who is openly pro-Nazi. If people don't want something, no amount of lobbying and corruption will make Tesla into the next big thing. China is developing electric vehicles alog with Europe and there are going to be big nationalistic drives to buy from the national company going forward. Tesla has only one way to go and it ain't up.

Pure hype merchant, definitely going to deliver on the robots.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,927 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

Not even a hype merchant, hyperloop was solely thought up to try and block new high speed rail corridors in california by creating a made up alternative to pretend was a viable alternative, he was afraid convenient and cheap rail transport would impact the future of his self driving car business.

Hype merchant indeed just like his raving cheerleaders.

People over the other thread im banned from for tying his politics to teslas performance. Hilariously they shouldn't be discussed by me but it's allowed by all the other posters.... claiming sales are far better in Ireland that other years . Despite it only being 5 percent up on q1 year for year ans dropping market share year to year.

Guess it must not be his politics and people are just being disingenuous for not buying the vehicles.

At some point these folks might put 2 and 2 together if the company falls over and their vehicles are worth 0.

You can't continue to make losses at home and abroad every successive quarter (except for Ireland) and operate endlessly into the future. There's a crunch point where the government subs won't keep it afloat. It's utterly high risk.
