Hanson was one of the best players I've ever saw in Liverpool shirt. He would be absolutely immense in today's game.

Bloody nuts game. Can't believe they pulled it off. They were dead and buried

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,741 ✭✭✭Thud

    indeed.

Watching Lyon made me look up Nabil Fekir to see where he ended up. He's out in Saudi now, has had a few injury issues. Whoever wrote his wiki page seems to have focused on all his red cards.. to be fair there were a few. Wonder how he'd have faired had the transfer worked out

sorry? they'll probably win the Europa League, be comedy gold if spurs beat them in the final tho

Will see how they go, the the quality in the EL is poor once the teams from the Champions League did not fall down into the competition. You now have a situation where the teams in 14th and 15th in the PL are favourites to win it. Says it all about that competition's quality. And they have been favourites for a while, this is not something new.

If you are ever told the PL this year is poor by a United fan, just remind them that Spurs and United could win the EL and play each other in the final, imagine how good the teams are that are ahead of them in the league? That is where the best teams are identified, over 38 games so how bad could it be if the lower half teams are the best of the rest in Europe?🤔😋

Back to news about Liverpool. Slot's comments in the presser today a bit worrying. Unless it's mind games:

"I think at Liverpool there is always a big summer and by already holding on to two (Salah and Van Dijk) it is already a big summer," he said.

"Let’s see what the rest of the summer will bring but it would be strange for me to say now I am not happy with the team because I’ve said this for a year, we are happy with the team we are having.

"Maybe if we can keep that team it will already be a big summer.

"I think the core of the team you want to keep as long as you can together, as long as they are performing in the best possible way, but it is also in general good to have some new energy in and around the place with one or two players.

"But it isn’t really a necessity when you look at the quality we have and the quality of the season we have had."

Bloody hell, that's very reminiscent of when Klopp was towing the party line and we made very few signings 😕

A lot will depend on outgoings I'd imagine.

Liverpool are unlikely to bring someone in unless someone leaves.

Might be clutching at straws, but you don't want to say you will make a lot signings as you might get fleeced.

Jaysus that Manc lad has it bad.

It will be funny if Spurs and ManU contest the EL final because as it stands their combined PL position would be behind Liverpool 🤣🤣

I struggle to believe that there won't be big investment this summer. It is an odd quote, though. There are so many areas to be addressed in the squad: both full backs, a DM, at least one more attacking/wing option. I'd argue we need at least five new players in the squad.

That all said, the silly season is almost upon us and there'll be lots of stories linking us with players, online twats claiming inside info and rumours that there's no money to spend. I'd be far more intrigued by Virg's comments about us having a big summer which I think could well be the case.

I have a sneaky feeling Trent will stay

And I'd absolutely rejoice if that's the case

I still fully expect him to go....but not giving up hope yet

Mod: folks please don't feed the troll. Just report them and ignore don't give them the oxygen they crave. A number of posts deleted and said troll dealt with.

If he was paying attention on Wednesday night, I'd say it's given him some food for thought. I can see Real Madrid going to way of old PSG with Mbappe, Vini Jr and Bellingham there.

Love Trent, no issue with him whatsoever. But I like the idea of him leaving, representing Liverpool in Madrid, and because I honestly believe we'll be stronger without him. Teams that rely on a right back for offensive purpose are few and far between, we need to get that, ha I was about to say '' get that monkey off our back'' a saying, I think someone will think I'm referring to Trent in this woke world we live if I say that, what I mean is, we need to adapt, to not rely so much on a right back for our offence , Walker was a great right back, won it all, City didn't need him to create, to assist, to semi assist.

Leave or stay, it's a non issue for me, Trent will always be a Liverpool Legend.

Slot was setting a narrative straight without telling the journalists and content creators that they have contrived to write an awful lot of nonsense about things they knew nothing about all season. What he said was in reference to there having been a lot of speculation that Liverpool couldn't afford to renew the contracts of Salah and van Dijk. In that context it has already been a big summer for the club.

In the follow up questions he said that you want to keep the core of the team together for as long as possible so long as the players are performing. Adding a couple of new players will bring a new energy to the group.

He also said that he has an expectation that the #9 has to score goals and work hard as a part of a pressing machine, "work their ar$e off" was the expression used.

The only reason id be somewhat happy if TAA stays is Salah is a lot better with him in the side.

    Other than that good luck.

Van Dyk said recently there was big plans for the summer. He probably said too much and Slot is reigning it in a bit.

Enjoy us getting the league wrapped up. The transfers will look after themselves.

Yeah, would pay very little heed to what a manager says about spending plans. There's just no benefit whatsoever to be had from publicly talking about bigger spending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,383 ✭✭✭✭noodler

We know we can't have everything and the two contracts represent a massive outlay tbf.

It's an odd position to be in. winning hr league well but at the same time a fairly unanimous feeling that we need at least 4 players (striker, RB. LB, MF).

I always wonder when a squad calls.for.more investment of the players realize whose positions that will likely jeopardise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,112 ✭✭✭Damien360

With any luck we get back to form and have all the deals done for new players really early. No waiting for the season to start.

It would be nice if Arsenal can win their next two and we follow their results.

Winning the league at home against Spurs would be the cherry on the top.

It would rank as one of my favourites and I'm supporting/suffering since my earliest memory which was a tense 2 - 1 win over West Ham in the league Cup final replay in 81'

What is weird is, I don't remember the European cup final that year 🤔

Anyhow, there's a bit of boring information for y'all. You are all welcome 😆

What do people make of the ‘Klopp to Real Madrid’ rumours?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,522 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

We'd actually have to drop points for that to happen, 6pts wins the league

Would be nice though, in an ideal world it would be great for it to be sealed in Anfield. But I'll take it whatever day it comes 🙂

Media nonsense, his agent has already come out and said it won't happen. Sadly I think they will get Xabi. I will love him and don't want him at a club I hate, but I'd say he won't pass up the opportunity this summer

Can't see it happening. I honestly think he sees his current role as being 'bigger' than just being a manager

To give up on that role after less than a year to go to a club that routinely fires coaches makes no sense to me.

I could see him doing a Trappatoni role on the Germany team in later years, but not after he's given his current one a proper go. I think he recognises that being an executive is even more lucrative than being the best coach, and it doesn't carry nearly the same risks. And then add to the fact that Real Madrid aren't a sleeping giant, it just doesn't fit the profile of club for him

I'd be honestly shocked if it actually happened
