I haven't heard anything since the 3rd, they said it would be 14 days. I'd prefer a few packs of Tayto than tickets to the park.

When they are sent out, if anyone has any Emerald Park tickets that they aren't going to use, could you PM me please. It will save me ranking the kids in order of preference to decide who I would leave at home!

Hi all. Has anyone that signed up to the Flogas BWG plan been able to avail of the budget plan? Or is that only for non-affinity plans?

We find it much better being able to pay the same every month.

    Thanks

Has anyone heard anything from Flogas? I signed up on the 6th and got the generic welcome email and not a peep since.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,220 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

I didn’t notice it but you can do a manual payment every week to whichever you prefer and the bills sorted then in advance

If you submit a meter reading once a month they seem to send a bill within 2 weeks

Don't submit an electricity meter reading if you are on a smart meter, it won't trigger a bill but you might get a narky response from Flogas - I did.

    FloGas scammed me it appears…

I just renewed my fixed rate dual fuel contract with FloGas and made sure to discuss the nature of the fixed rate plan I signed up for. It is not a fixed discount plan, but a fixed rate plan, so the standing charge can change, but not the unit rate. I got this confirmed over the phone when I signed up.

Despite this, I got two letters from FloGas (attached) with the following text:

    Gas:

The percentage discount off our Standard Rate is fixed for the duration of your contract. However, the unit rate, standing charge and Carbon tax levy are subject to change. This also applies to fixed energy tariffs.

    Electricity:

The percentage discount off our Standard Rate is fixed for the duration of your contract. However, the unit rate, standing charge and PSO payment are subject to change. This also applies to fixed energy tariffs.

This directly contradicts and defeats the purpose a fixed rate plan vs a fixed discount plan..

I sent them an email asking them to confirm this is an error in the letters…

FloGas didn't scam you at all, you're incredibly dramatic on this thread.

The T&C's of their plan is: "This is a fixed energy contract meaning that the energy component of the unit rate and standing charge are fixed for the duration of the contract, but regulated pass-through charges may change. If we need to adjust these rates because of regulated charge changes, we will write to you 30 days in advance of the change"

Your unit rate is fixed. Your standing charge is fixed in the context FloGas can only increase the standing charge if the regulator changes their charge which is expected later this year. You will be given 30 days notice.

You don't have a percentage discount so there's nothing to fix there.

FloGas's communication has always been awful. There is an error in the letters.

Nope, not an error, they do mean it…

    See the response:

"Your affinity plan is named “fixed”

This means it is fixed on Flogas end,

But if ESB increase there passthrough charge in October (this is totally out of our hands and therefore nothing we can do about it) , and if it is going to effect our BWG customers this may increase your standing charge/unit rate."

I also received this letter, 14 days after the start of the contract. How convenient.

This is a screenshot from the email I received on the 1st of April. As can be seen, it's a different tariff name. On the email it's BWG Fixed Rate Affinity Electricity and on the letter I received today, it's DG2 NSAV DF BAFF Fixed 18 April25 RN. Does any of that in today's letter refer to a fixed rate?

Its all in their T&C's: "This is a fixed energy contract meaning that the energy component of the unit rate and standing charge are fixed for the duration of the contract, but regulated pass-through charges may change. If we need to adjust these rates because of regulated charge changes, we will write to you 30 days in advance of the change"

Regulated pass-through charges are expected to change later this year. They don't know what it is so can't fix that portion. That's not the "Flogas end".

If the regulated charges change, then they will adjust accordingly. That is a fixed rate tariff. If gas prices spike, your bill will not go up because of that.

    There's zero scamming here.

According to the email they quoted and the letter from the other poster the unit rate is clearly not fixed. They both refer to a fixed discount. The letter and email say the unit rate, standing charge and PSO levy are subject to change.

I wouldn't go all wack job calling it a scam but it looks like there's been a misunderstanding.

DG2 NSAV DF BAFF Fixed 18 April25 RN

DG2 - Means you are a rural residential customer. it is an ESB code.

    NSAV - Night Saver Meter

DF - Dual Fuel (I think)

BAFF Fixed - I'd guess Bwg AFFinity Fixed

18 April25 - Start date of your plan.

I don't know what the RN is. But my existing fixed affinity plan has that too.

Just off the phone with flogas. It is not a fixed rate, I wasn't told the truth on the phone when I signed up, and also when I received the email mentioned above which stated fixed rate.

The agent on the phone kept deflecting and then threatened to put me on standard rates because I wasn't a member of BWG. His whole tactic was to deflect and distract from the email I received on the 1st of April, constantly telling me to calm down and stop shouting, which I wasn't. I just kept asking him to explain why I had an email saying that I was on fixed rate and he is saying that I am not. I also told him it seems like skullduggery that I received the letter confirming that I am not on fixed rate, just outside cooling off period.

No matter what happens, I'm cancelling, even though I will probably have to pay the €50. I'm not giving this shower three thousand euro over the next 18 months. I asked him if he was concerned if I sent a copy of the email and today's letter to the CRU, if they charged me the €50 exit fee. He just said "I'm not the CRU and you WILL be charged the €50." Im not sure that would actually be a good idea, as i am not a member of the BWG group. Could they nullify my past contract and force me to backpay what i should have been paying on standatd rates for the past couple of years?😨😁

He said he'd get the person who sent me the email to call me. I won't hold my breath.

    Anyway, charming company🙄

so you’re trying to play the system by pretending to work for bwg and then you ring customer service and shout a load of abuse at the person on the phone

    Well played 👍🏻

My letter says I’m on day/night rate and I checked my online account and I’m on day/peak/night as agreed on the phone

Flogas could do with improving communication a tad

Where did I say I shouted abuse at anyone? Don't get a nosebleed up on that high horse, many people signed up for the BWG offer, not being a member. And I'm pretty sure that suited Flogas just fine.

    Anyway, that's not the issue.
