Oh totally - it’s bloody scary times. While it’s great seeing Harvard reject Trumls demands to “reform” their policies, and hence have lost 100s of millions in federal funding, they’re one of the very few institutions that have done that - everyone else has rolled over - we need the institutions to remain strong here and united - we can see that MAGA are picking them off one by one - absolutely no role in America appears to have the power or influence to stop this- and if the Democrats wait until elections it will be too late

Look at how Trump rolled over many of the top legal firms in the country.

Many of them are now committed to working for free for the administration and aside from that humiliation, you can imagine how eager they will be to pursue cases of holding the administration to account when he clearly has them under his thumb.

China has ordered Chinese airlines to stop any purchases of aircraft and related equipment from American companies.

    So much winning.

Yeah I saw that - you would think legal firms would band together and stay firm - ie you ban one firm you ban them all- but no

Happy to see this , but isn't their fleet well the national airline anyway all Boeing? Will they change to Airbus ?

If they do change to airbus ,all pilots will need to be retrained etc.

Two things are happening in the US at the moment. There is a growing protest movement such as the the "Hands Off" rallies and the massive crowds attending the join AOC / Bernie Saunders events. At the same time, there is an administration heading quickly towards authoritarianism which is eager to quell any dissent. That seems like a powder keg waiting to go off. I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a significant clash between law enforcement and protesters similar to the 1968 Chicago riots during Trump's term.

Could see Trump doing something similar to what Putin tended to do in earlier years, you'll get some insane crackdown just before the world cup that will backfire. Honestly at the rate things are going, you could have stuff hit the fan this year though.

He is like some sort of weird organism that was created in a slurry pit. Utterly disgusting individual. Elect a criminal rapist as your president, and this is the sort of disgusting human that ends up in a high profile position.

And the second that happens , Trump declares Martial law and cancels the mid-terms on "safety and security" grounds.

He's only gagging for an excuse..

Not saying that people aren't justifiably terrified about the direction things are going , but some actions would actually benefit his efforts to take complete control by providing him with "justification" for a major clamp down.

The only thing that is going to stop him is money, or more accurately the loss of money.

When all of his stupidity and nonsense starts to really cost everyone money and specifically when the wanna-be Oligarchs start losing money , then and only then will he run out of road.

Right now they are happy to go along as they think his destruction of Federal oversight and regulations will be profitable , when that stops being true , they'll get rid of him.

Appeals to the "Greater good" or common decency will go absolutely nowhere…

Since I asked who are what is going to stop Trump, I’ve had replies (thanks everyone who did) from military coup to Trump imploding to citizens and their guns to mass riots- not a very optimistic outlook is it, and I can’t say I disagree with any of those suggestions- they’re all “possibilities” although Trump imploding is probably the least likely unfortunately

Not sure about that. I was very active in American political forums circa 2008-09 when Bush Jr was overseeing the economy losing 800,000 jobs a week and not a single Republican then was blaming Bush for economy collapsing (instead placing blame solely on Bill Clinton). He was still viewed as "God's chosen one" right up until the last.

Bush Jr had nowhere near the cult of personality surrounding him that Trump does. Its going to take half the country a long long time (most will never) to wean off MAGA regardless what happens.

Bush didn't single-handedly cause the Global Financial Crash either though.

I'm curious as to how many Americans are actually annoyed by all of this. Sure there's been rallies but nothing like any massive march on DC.

Are they indifferent? Afraid to protest? Actually most of them buying into this? They seem largely quiet.

Take back the House and Senate in the midterms. Paralyze the executive and be sure to run LOTS of investigations, starting with Eloon. Ignore the petition? Off to the pokey.

Elect someone (Hakeem Jeffries?) House leader

Impeach Trump and Vance simultaneously. Jeffries becomes POTUS.

Nice to dream, anyway, as it's likely you can't do a 2-for-1 impeachment.

China won’t talk to Trump “unless US shows respect”

Hahahaha they just trolling them now

Turns out Trump doesn’t have the cards as the cards were also made in China

They will semi switch to Airbus but will also use it as a means to develop Comac.

FFS- may as well make Italy the next US state of America - not much of a hope of EU unity there

In US propaganda news, Tucker Carlson was in McGregor's pub last night and has been walking around with Lowry and Healy Rae today... I could see this being a move from Musk to push nonsense about the country.

That looks like Malachy Steenson talking to Tucker and possibly (low chance) Justin Barrett behind Steenson.

I can only imagine the shite this "documentary" is going to claim.

They need to act long before the midterms or there won’t be midterms - that’s the way things are heading - I totally believe Trump and MAGA are capable of achieving that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,935 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

I absolutely think they are capable of that with Schumer in charge, AOC will destroy him if the midterms actually happen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,791 ✭✭✭✭8-10

I see that they're saying they're defending Harvard because they are trying to combat antisemitism

But they've never shown any desire to tackle neo nazis or white supremacists....which is significantly more antisemitic than being pro Palestine, no?

I thought the whole point was being a Nazi, even if it's not a nice thing to do, is your right as an American under freedom of speech

    What am I missing?

It was chilling to watch the Attorney General of the USA tell the world from the Oval Office that there is nothing she can do (or will do) for a non criminal husband and father sent to El Salvador by mistake. . The El Salvador leader then said he ‘couldn’t smuggle a terrorist back into the US’.

Still NO ONE, of all those present said ‘but he’s not a terrorist - he is innocent!

But one person in that room is in fact a ‘homegrown’ felon who could be inadvertently setting up his own retirement bed in an El Salvadoran jail.

If he succeeds in upskuttling the US Justice system then it could come back to bite him when he’s out of office and his like minded successors come after ‘ home grown felons’ .

Its okay to support white aka "nazi" anti-semitism but not coloured "pro-palestinian" anti-semitism, as usual with the yanks it always comes back to good aul racism.

Btw before anyone says anything i do not for one second think being pro-palestinian equates to being anti-semitic im just explaining how the maga heads think
