Sticking sensor back to door.

Hi folks,

The sensor on the door came off. Can someone involved with alarm installation tell me what is the best glue to use so I don't damage the door? This didn't leave a mark so if you are able to tell from the picture, what glue was used, I would be appreciate it. Should I try to get this tried glue off first or just use more?

looks to me like silicone or something similar.

OP some no more nails or similar will do the job as it’s a very light sensor so won’t require a heavy bond.

From the photo it does look like silicone was used which is as far as I know perfectly acceptable as an adhesive in these situations.

That contact is designed to be screwed to the door, the 2 screw holes top and bottom are kind of a give away. Looks like whoever fitted the door just slapped some silicone on it and hoped for the best. You could do the same again and it will fail again or you could screw it to the door

Thanks for those replies. I'd rather not use screws in case I ruin the door. I'll try silicone.

if it is to be fixed there pretty much permanently I wouldn’t be bothered about holes in the door.
