Bordeaux haven't faced a team like Leinster. Toulouse beat Leinster by the barest of margins last year, and absolutely annihilated Bordeaux in the Top 14 final.

Great comeback from Munster but Bordeaux switched off. Eminently beatable team but Munster had a mountain to climb after 30 minutes.

Bordeaux definitely look a bit flaky though.

Flaky is the exact word to describe them absolutely beatable!

Disappointing performance, understand it’s hard to go on the road in successive weekends, but when you don’t even do the basics at lineout and backfield cover, you e know hope. UBB are beatable if you stay in the fight, but we never gave ourselves a chance.
That being said, we’ve badly needed a proper forwards coach and a hooker a while now. I don’t think we even have one at the moment with Codling gone back to the women’s team. That’s the result you get.

There was a good few rucks that were absolutely mental. Murray blatantly played, Bordeaux players driving across off their feet, flying in offsides. Then on the other side, an incredibly generous penalty try, Murray blatantly joining a ruck from Bordeaux's side.

In a game where they needed two tries and one of them immediately, Murray went looking for a penalty rather than just getting on with things.

Anything that could go wrong went wrong. A mad day.

For everyone saying they look beatable it clear that's only because they had the game won.

They had a top gear that they barely needed.

I'd disagree with that. Munster forced them to give away multiple penalties which led to attacking lineouts inside the 22. They fluffed every one of them. Bordeaux also scored a rake of tries from Munster being incredibly sloppy and lackadaisical with loose balls.

More like a lesson in originality!

Although, props to you for wording it originally though!

Poor all over the pitch really. The lineout was atrocious and the only standouts for me were Beirne and Crowley. I know POM is retiring this season but crikey he's been off the pace all season. He's not firing at all like what he used to....Great player mind.

So it's back to the URC now and minds need to be on the job here to make sure of a top 8

Can't make that many basic errors and lose your lineout as much as we did and expect to win. Needed to be as clinical as the La Rochelle match.

They're great to watch, super attacking team that'll take some stopping

UBB held up try given by ref. Rare to see onfield "no try" turned over without conclusive TV pics. But TMO certain of a grounding but not certain if over the line. Ref certain of over the line but not certain of grounding. TV pics prove a grounding and ref "proves" being over the line. Try awarded seems fair enough.

Munster penalty try for UBB deliberate knock on. Farrell had to beat 3 defenders to make the try line. But they were all clumped together and flat footed. Farrell would likely have made the corner before any of them could lay a hand on him. Penalty try seems fair enough.

Despite the late rally, Munster never looked like winning this game. UBB dropped their concentration several times due to how comfortable they were controlling the game. This created an illusion that Munster had a chance. But they never really did.

All is not lost though. Some good performances in the campaign, the return to fitness of Abrahams, the unearthing of Smyth (as a squad player IMHO), some progress with players who can replace POM. Something to build on with a new coach.

Yeah so was it a case of he was 'played' or he milked it? I felt like he milked it tbh but not many people in the pub shared that opinion.

    Very disappointed with the performance

    Malfunctioning lineout absolutely nailed us.

We'd a good start & anytime we got territory in their 22 our lineout undid all the good work to get there in the first place.

One aspect of our key play not functioning is bad enough but add in handling & forward passes we were never within a shout of them.

A week's break would between 16 & quarters should be looked at,even play a URC round this week

I would love to play them again with the above corrected & see exactly where we stand against them but alas.

I don't see UBB going any further tho, they've met nothing of top level quality yet & coughed up a lot of tries in the last 2 rounds.

I think Toulon will win 2mor but it's looking increasingly like Leinster.

Anyways back to the bread& butter of URC with a couple of big games coming up

Id more of an issue with the guy who picked the ball up. He clearly lost his balance, put his hand on the ground, then picked up the ball. But the ref wasn’t the reason we lost the game anyway.

Can't win a game like that with no lineout. Fair play Munster at least you gave them a fight in the second half.

    😞

Wholeheartedly must disagree with you there . Limericks hurling success started in 2018, Munsters attendance decline started long before then

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,904 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

If we fall out of the top 8 presumably that's challenge cup next year?

Cardiff, Ulster and Benneton, need to beat all 3 really

What are you on about?? The ball was clearly grounded. You can see it on the replays and the ref said it was over the line so its try.

What do you think about the penalty try? Awarded by a homer ref who is easily influenced by the crowd.

Alex Codling, who has been coaching the Munster lineout since November, was on duty in his role as forwards coach of the Ireland women’s team this week. Costello explained that Codling came in to work with the Munster squad on Thursday, downplaying the suggestion Munster suffered from his absence in the lead-up to today’s quarter-final clash.

What kind of bull**** set up are we running where we don't have full access to the lineout coach all week.

It's more or less the other way round. His main job was with the women's team, but he was seconded to Munster after Rowntree's departure.

Codling is out of his depth. Little fish in a big pond.

Too late now but newstalk had it. Rté radio didn't, mustn't be allowed both stations broadcast at the same time

Plenty of people can concentrate on the match despite the presence of a bar,

After a busy few days i just sat down to review the season ticket options/prices and its not bad at all. CAT a was 305 last year and now 330 with extra game. While its slightly inconvenient to travel to Cork for the Cup game im kinda looking forward to it aswell. If its a full house with a cracking atmosphere then it'll be worth it. The plan is to get a second one for the young lad, so i dont have to move seats when one of them kids attend and thats up only a tenner, so no real complaints here

For us the PUC game is the straw that broke the camels back. I genuinely hope this works out well for Munster Rugby overall but their decision has lost them 9 season ticket holders in my immediate friend/family group this coming season.

I hope you enjoy it though :)

From someone on the outside, can I ask why? I’m not a Munster supporter or a local to either Limerick or Cork so maybe I don’t understand it, but I don’t see the huge deal with a game being moved to a larger stadium. 9 people in your immediate friend and family group seems huge to not renew season tickets for just a single game being moved, or am I missing something?
