Kia error: check electric vehicle system

So my 2021 Kia e-niro stopped going into gear and displayed the "check electric vehicle system" error on the dash last weekend. I had to have it towed to the dealership.

From doing a bit of googling it appears to be quite a serious problem. Has anyone had any experience with this error?

    Thanks

I have heard of this happening with a weak 12 volt battery. Happened to a colleague of mine on Tuesday and once the battery was charged up and the car reset, the error was resolved. It also caused a host of other lights on the dash to come on at the same time.

I hope the fix is something that straightforward for you.

Check EV system is so vague it could be anything. It's like a check engine light. If it's under warranty try get an EV loaner for free while the dealer sorts it. Without error codes or anything more to go on it could be many things. Things like main battery cell fault, motor error, inverter, or any control system.

    It could be the 12v.

I have the old ioniq & when the the 12v went the amount of errors it threw up was amazing!

I rang road cover & told them it was the 12v but they said maybe not but it was. They aren't used to ye where I live.

I was in Dublin another time when the same thing happened & the mechanic immediately agreed with me as saw it alot in the city
