Obvs use the central column as a load bearer. If your using timber thats packed close together you could prob get away with express anchoring some 4x2 into the two planter walls. it would still look floaty. Just measure the space, drop your timber on the column and then find out where you need to postion your 4x2's.

Alternatively, also easy would be pegging in each legth of timber into planter walls.

Would you consider a

Welded up a few of these. I fix a bit of timber to the tops and fix from the top. Don't have the bit that fixes to the wall too long as you don't want to see the bottom of it. If poss have a bit of LED strip lights under it. The effect is great. See pic of top of timber(Teak or iroko) after fixing.
