    Im not screaming…just pointing out that EV tyres wear out quicker than ICE tyres. But you keep replying to me as we all now know your the type that always have to have the last word.

    No, I just want you to admit that it's not a fact. You had to use ChatGPT and even that fell far short of saying it was a fact. By a long way.

    That's my only point here. It isn't a proven fact. Because it can't be. There are too many variables.

    Do you read what you link? Right there in the first one, there are lots of variables as I said:

    Also that article is two years old. A lot of things have changed in EV design including better control of torque to the wheels and smoother acceleration.

    The second article does at least have some data, but the statement about tyres being a higher proportion of the servicing budget hilariously missed the point that EV servicing costs are much lower than ICE, so of course tyres will be a higher proportion.

    And again, it's out of date. EVs have moved on and have become much lighter, the torque is much more controlled and most of the newer models have moved towards more controlled acceleration.

    The main point here, again, is that it depends on a lot of factors and there are cases where the opposite is likely (subject to verification of course).

    But it is not a fact. A fact is something that is true all the time and in all cases.

    The charging infrastructure or lack thereof is something to seriously consider especially as your annual non work related driving is 20k km. For peace of mind forget the EV and get yourself a decent Audi A4, Skoda Superb or similar in diesel - your car allowance should more than cover the cost of diesel and not having that dreaded range anxiety is priceless. Last January's storm brought into focus how fragile the whole 'all electric' world is. With power cuts that lasted weeks thousands of all electric homes with air to water and similar heating systems without a chimney, no gas cooker etc. etc. were in serious difficulties and many with EV,s were left stranded. But as evident from this forum and others, EV drivers are the Taliban of the motoring world and woe betide anyone who dares to discuss the pros and cons of EV's …even minor issues like tyre wear😂………………………one wonders why!

    I was trying to give the poor diesel a fighting chance, but I guess the extra fuel saving will pay for the new set of tyres that the EV will need every 2 months according to 07Lapierre 😏

    Changed tyres with 3mm remaining at 45,477kms just before Christmas - much better mileage from a set of tyres on my heavy EV vs my slightly less heavy diesel SUV. They were probably good for 55k kms but I went early due to the wet season kicking in. So it is definitely not a "fact" that tyres on an EV wear out faster.

    There are brands of EV-specific tyres that come from the factory with less tread than a regular tyre. I have seen Eco tyres from some manufacturers launch with 6mm vs the standard 8mm, which would definitely lead one to believe that EV tyres wear out faster. And they are stupidly expensive as well - for literally nothing.

    But ChatGPT for an answer to anything in the modern world…..well jaysus, have you been sucked in 😅

    But that not the statement people are disputing. The statement was "tyres! EV’s wear out tyres a lot quicker than ICE cars. Bear that in mind."

    However in order for your statement to be true you would have to add in an "all other things being equal".

    I have an Ioniq 5 RWD with 85k kms and im still on original tyres on front and got 45K kms on the back before changing.

    OP here rang Audi Portadown as they had a 2020 e-tron 55 and looked to be good value but wont sell to anyone in the south. Strange decision but I guess they are protecting the business in the south.

    They said its their position since Jan '21.

    This was the car I think would have it landed in around 28K mark if it was in NI for a few months.

    Something similar here looks in around the 33K so I think it was worth a day trip up.

    It's possible the vehicle was imported from the UK originally

    I think if a vehicle is registered in the UK and then exported to NI it'll be charged import tax and VAT of it's then brought into the Republic

    Whereas if a vehicle is originally registered in NI then the VAT can be claimed back or something. It's all somewhat complicated so I think many dealerships just stay away from the extra paperwork

    Basically Brexit wasn't a good idea...

    UK registered cars only need to be registered privately in Northern Ireland for 3 months to become VRT only on import here
