Would you be inclined to visit a location because of a song ?

Like if youre in the area would you climb 'Little Solsbury Hill' because of Peter Gabriels 'Solsbury Hill' (tbh that song makes the area sound amazing)

'Waterloo Sunset' is about a standard Bridge in London. Prob wouldn't even think of the song if you see it

'Cedarwood Road' by U2 is a run of the mill housing estate

Cuyahoga by REM makes me want to go to Ohio to check out the titular river.

It's a fascinating story about a river so polluted it went on fire on multiple occasions. By pure coincidence, it featured in Time magazine in the same edition as the Moon Landings and the Chappaquiddick affair so it garnered worldwide coverage.. apologies for the tangent..

I was in Philadelphia a few years back and went for a stroll one evening around the city. By chance Streets of Philadelphia started playing. I played it a few more times on my walk. Wouldn't mind doing the same to Walking in Memphis in Memphis!

John Spillane talks about 'Princes Street', I think it was known for years before he actually recorded it

Bristol band Strangelove had a song called 'Wellington Road', seemed to be about drug addicts / people who were down on their luck

There is a Wellington Road in Bristol

There's one in Dublin and Cork too.

I was in a pub in Manhattan called Mustang Sally's, does that count?

I nearly moved into an apartment on ul Pekarska, partly because I liked the address but more so for the Sherlock Holmes connection, not the song by Gerry Rafferty.

I went to New York for the 1st Time last year. I made a playlist for myself of my favourite New York songs, and played it daily on the run up to the trip. We were walking in Times Square on our last day, and someone was playing Jay Z's Empire State Of Mind- it made me feel incredibly nostalgic, I'm not quite sure why.

Heading back again soon, I'm absolutely gonna have a gyro sandwich walking down Eighth Avenue, as per Gerard Kenny in New York New York.

always loved Waterloo Sunset. Have been to Waterloo Bridge but not a pilgrimage per se …was taking the Eurostar from Waterloo a few times when it was its original terminus and decided to take a look. I didn’t see Terry or Julie.
