Cullie Tucker named in POC's backroom team for the Summer tour

Well deserved and will be a great experience for him.

It's late for sure, and I assume it's going to be a complex renewal this year with the new stand, and it not being available for the start of the season (last I heard it was going to be ready by end of October).

I wonder will they make the terrace at the front of the stand available for the start of the season, with seats in the tiers above coming a bit later?

The optimist in me hopes we might have a 10 lined up to replace Carty (not confirmed but imagine he's leaving) and JJ so they'll be able to promote the ST renewals on a positive note but more than likely they'll bank on a win against Cardiff this weekend so they can hard-sell ST's off the back of a home QF.

It'll be interesting to see regarding season tickets. If the end date was October would it be worth approaching the URC with a view to getting a bulk of away fixtures done early as the start date of the league is now more late September. That's a double edged sword. It worked well for us in the end in 22/23 getting a lot of hard away games out of the way early but a lot fell right for us that year.

A season ticket is a hard sell at the moment. The stand is making great progress but it's still a building site and people won't want to commit to a season ticket if they aren't sure it'll be ready and on the field we need some positive results and something in the background to indicate next season won't be another wasted season.

It would have to be an IQ outhalf as we have Ioane. Wilkins said in an interview a few weeks back they were in negotiations with Carty but I'm not so sure that will happen.

I asked around a bit last month ago when I thought the precast installation was progressing slower than expected. I heard something similar. The question is apparently whether they can pull the timeline back on track enough for a launch with a big game in October, or aim to have it fully done for the December fixtures after the Autumn international break. I don't think anyone really knows which way that could go with construction deadlines.

We opted for an early South Africa trip when we installed the 4G pitch so maybe we'll request something similar, and consider moving an Interpro again if needed.

It all makes marketing a season ticket package difficult, especially after an couple of poor results in major games with Champion's Cup rugby looking quite unlikely right now. I can see Willie Ruane crossing his fingers tightly for a lucky Challenge Cup run to build some interest.

Is Pearse stadium an early season option for connacht. Maybe get an interpro v leinster or Munster on early.

I hope this is allowed - I have two tickets for this Saturday's game, in the Burkeway Homes seated stand, but won't be able to make it due to a bad back (why I purchased seated tickets to begin with! things got worse unfortunately) and would like these to go to a good home! If anyone is interested, please send me a DM.

I see tickets are still on sale for tomorrow night's cup game with Cardiff (for main stand and both terraces).

Not a good sign if Connacht can't sell out and convince folks to go to such a game with a reduced capacity stadium. Last weekend's adventure in Castlebar might have tested the stamina of a few Galway based supporters.

for me it’s on too late and there’s no trains afterwards. We have had a couple of these 8pm games and it simply makes attending the match more difficult and significantly more expensive. If it was on at 3pm I’d be there

A strange lack of hype from the branch this week too - I get that the game in Castlebar was a big deal, but it's like they used all their energy marketing that and now they've taken the week off. I hope the team have a different attitude.

We could do with some positivity around the place, any win will do.

Would have thought it would have been a good week to announce some renewals, maybe Joyce and Devine.. Have seen some concerning chat about the latter, hopefully there's nothing to it.

WaWas the team due to be announced at 12pm as usual ?

No Forde again. Not saying he's had a great season but seems silly to leave him out 2 weeks in a row when he's seemingly fit in favour of a lad that's out the door.

There's been gossip about Ulster and Devine being mutually interested. Started on reddit, claims that he wanted to leave because he wasn't getting enough minutes. Unlikely to be true.

By the 'lad that's out the door', do you mean JJ or Piers O'Connor?

Devine is under contract for next season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,661 ✭✭✭testtech05

And hopefully to stay for much longer than that if he can keep up his development

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 325 ✭✭Strand1970

What's the story with Jack Carty? Is he injuried or looking to finish rugby once his contract is up. If Connacht let Devine go elsewhere I will just up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Zeugnis

Understand how you feel about Devine but think it's just internet gossip. And he starts tomorrow which is a good sign, it's a season-defining game.

Jack seems to be just out of favour with management, so on some version of gardening leave. It's pretty shameful really. For some time I have hoped that popular podcasts would put more effort into holding decision makers to account rather than just exploiting fandom for clicks. Alas…

That Ciaran Donaghue at Bath is a nice player. A 10/15 who is IQ and 22 years of age. Maybe try to bring Quinn home with him as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 338 ✭✭AccidentallyOnside

Pretty sure Roux signed an extension earlier in the year. Not sure the current iteration of Connacht are anything that would tempt anyone away from Bath.

Doesn't seem to be any talk of Pete's return, hope he's ok as it's a couple of weeks now with no word.

Bath announced a one year extension a couple of months ago. I'm not sure if he's the player we need either. The's a brilliant lock in set pieces and the tight but he isn't particularly mobile across the pitch when you have a game style like ours.

Everyone's very tight lipped about the situation with Pete. It sounds like he does have a health problem which is horrible for him and his family. There's far more to life than rugby so hopefully the branch will be able to give a positive update at some stage soon.

Just bumping this; I've two seated tickets and am not asking for anything for them, just want to see them used - please send me a DM if interested.
