Russia has very close ties to Netanyahu. Netanyahu was at a Russia day parade in Red Square as Putin's guest.

Netanyahu has been mute in support of Ukraine.

The trick by Orban is to be withdrawing from the ICC so that Putin can visit Hungary without being arrested in future.

Netanyahu, Trump, Putin, Orban and now Kim Jong Un. All part of the same club. Whatever name they or others wish to call it.

But Russia has been funding Iran in its proxy war against Israel using Hamas. Buying drones etc.

Russian arms were found with Hezbollah.

Russia having close ties with Netanyahu doesn’t add up when you take all that into account.

Russia using Iran and hezbollah with the aim of furthering Israeli take over of all Palestinian land. Netanyahu say thank you Putin for making this possible.

Putin and the Kremlin use people.

Putin say thank you Netanyahu for partaking in the distraction of Ukraine. We both help one another. And you draw American arms away from Ukraine to Israel.

🍊 💩 moved on from destroying and selling out other countries to destroying and selling out his own country

What happened in US yesterday will have more repercussions in US and abroad than a nuclear decapitation strike on DC

Putin must be breaking his hole laughing at the mighty West snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Good job Vic. Good job Benji. Good job Donnie.

Trump has inspired European countries to overcome any political reticence about defence self sufficiency, so while Trump collapses the US economy Europe can reequip a few shuttered car plants for military production.

You're working with a logical mind; the individuals in question would cross any divide to get what they want. Russia also need a new Mediterranean sea port after Al Assad collapsed. Lebanon won't be an option; Israel next, Gaza being turned to dust offers a prospective deal. In 'normal' times the American's would inevitably put an end to that, though these days with Trump Inc. God/Allah/Yahweh only knows.

Vlad's playing the long game here IMO… short term pain for the serfs doesn't concern him if the riches on offer to the elites at the end of the short term pain are enticing enough. I'd say he'd take a battering of oil prices in exchange for castration of Western alliances and solidarity.

Possibly , but he also needs to fund his war and keep the oligarchs on side. Money is his life blood.

Hard to say as all European countries will probably take a battering here with tariffs and possible recession. Might mean less money that can be given to Ukraine from European countries down the line.

Both European markets and the euro has benefited greatly already since February thanks to Trump

It’s the opposite, money is rushing in from insanity on other side to perceived stability and rule of law

Yesterday was the worse day on US stock markets since 2001 following weeks of red

Probability of US recession is at 53% now up 38% since Trump took office and the other shoe hasn’t dropped yet

and what about the ‘boys’ in the Yemen being supported by Iran?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,274 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

Tarrifs causing Oil Prices to tumble combined with OPEC countries agreeing to increase production in May. This aspect of Trump at least won't be good for Russia.

I'm still of the opinion Russia won't sustain this war if Europe continues to up their game. With the latest mobilisation Ukraine will have to survive another summer of Russian assault's.

IMO all these autocrats (and full blown dictators) around the world seem to cooperate at times, scratching each other's backs regardless of their conflicting ideology so they can enhance their power and wealth and weaken democracies and multilateral institutions. I read Autocracy Inc. (Anne Applebaum) on this subject recently, and found it convincing.

What Orbán gets from it is the delegitimising of the ICC, making a monkey out of the EU/other member states trying to abide by treaties they signed, and a greater freedom to invite the war criminal Russians and maybe even Putin himself to Hungary for meetings in the future.

What Netanyahu gets is also delegitimising the ICC and weakening of his own isolation. You'll probably see Israel and the US start to bully and coerce other European countries to ignore the ICC and welcome him.

As mentioned Netanyahu himself had always been very friendly with Putin/Russia in the past, and Israel did nothing to help Ukraine. They can be more openly pro-Russia now if they like, given people who are at the wheel in the US are trying to cozy up to Putin as well. I think the Israeli govt. can probably forgive Putin's dalliances with Iran in the long run. I don't think Iran worries them much in truth at the moment, they probably think Trump will bomb it for them during his term.

This is so tragic and like the slaughter in Gaza it barely registers as a blip on the news now, stock market gets much more attention. We are a messed up species with such limited attention span

    definitely not opening that shite

I do hope hell is a real thing. A **** playground

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,514 ✭✭✭Virgil°

A **** playground with cluster munition warhead in broad daylight!? That whole **** country needs to be quarantined. I just saw an image of a mother lying next to her son under a tarpaulin in the deepest grief imaginable and then another of the same woman still there after dark. A curse on Putin and the Russians who orchestrated this. I hope they die roaring!

Hey @engineerws , get the **** in here and explain this...... Still think the Americans are puppeteering Ukraine after Trump has shanked them in the back and publicly demonised Zelensky? Still think Zelensky is the one blocking peace after offering a full unconditional ceasefire and Putin turning it down?

I want to see you justify this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 666 ✭✭✭engineerws

No idea why you're calling on me to justify child murder. It sounds awful.

In case you're unaware, Israel a US ally financed by the US has killed about 100,000 children in similar fashion. I haven't seen you Express similar outrage for the Palestinian children murdered by the US/ Israel.

I haven't been following the war in Ukraine to the same degree after I was banned. Not much I can say here except it's very sad. I don't know if there's a way out for Ukraine anymore, the de-nazification sounds similar to ending Hamas. Ideologies are difficult to destroy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,409 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

I'd imagine the difference is that you were openly cheerleading for the politician who came in and made things much worse for Palestine in trump, even when everyone explained in minute detail that he would make it worse.

I dont think you were one of those "putin just wants peace" idiots (as alluded to above), I'd give you the benefit of the doubt there and put your position on Ukraine down to simple naiivity of the situation combined with a libertarian outlook (even though we're now seeing libertarianism in the states turn into isolationism, similar to how communism evolved in russia before it (un)funnily enough).

FYI, nazis in Ukraine were a russian strawman, what far right elements existed were very small numbers and mostly existed due to russias incursions into the donbas which gave these people a target to go after (it also means trying to brass neck and memory hole prizhoghins wagner group which openly embraced that ideology).

Whataboutery. Repeatedly shifting the conversation away from the topic by bringing up an unrelated conflict.

Do you consistently speak out in this thread about other major crises around the world where hundreds of thousands have died, the Tigray war, the civil war in Sudan, the M23 conflict in the DRC, the violence in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Myanmar?

No. So even the whataboutery is hypocritical and selective concern.

@engineerws " I don't know if there's a way out for Ukraine anymore, the de-nazification sounds similar to ending Hamas. Ideologies are difficult to destroy."

Denazification? Are you trying to wind people up? You know this is Russian propaganda right? The war exists because Putin wants 'The Great' after his name on his head stone. Simple as.

It looks like history is starting up again.

well... that plus the oil, gas, titanium, rare earth and other minerals and the rich agricultural land "the breadbasket of Europe" the profits of which would be divvied out between himself and his oligarch associates.

In spite of lots of concerned commentators on this thread for some time now claiming that Ukraine is on the verge of collapsing and must negotiate with putin's terrorist state the US military thinks they are in a much better position than they were when putin expanded attacks on their country three years ago:
