You could apply that first paragraph to Ken Early tbh

Stop digging. Vickery is an outstanding football journalist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,132 ✭✭✭✭Cienciano

I've seen some ridiculous posts here over the years, but "Tim Vickery doesn't know shít about south american football" is probably the worst take since that poster thought Mark Horgan was dead.

Tim Vickery is outstanding. It makes my day when he pops up on SC. Think he was on Indo podcast with Joe a few weeks ago too. For anyone who doesn’t know he’s also on BBC World Football Phone In every week. He’s the most knowledgeable person on South American football there is. Does local media in Portuguese language too. As far from an amateur blogger as you could possibly get.

Paying zero attention to the LoI but glad to see Bohs are still shíte so Branno gets the pïss pulled from whenever the dreaded thing is brought up

Murph has really gone out on a limb on the new gaelic football rules.

I plan on going to the Wednesday Dublin show in October.
I am hoping it’s not a GAA only show.

If I miss the football one I will not be a happy man!

I hate to contribute to another 'Branno boo boy' discussion but it's really noticeable how involved he is in most of the episodes lately. Not sure what I make of it, I like him as a bit part of the broadcasting team but not sure id want him on every episode. He seems to be more and more involved in the daily episodes rather than behind the scenes.

    Am I alone?

Found his conversation with Ken about Germany and the GDR a few weeks ago quite strange.

Between LoI podcasts and podcasts about expressionist portraits of Paul McGrath the art podcast still wins in my book

I have to say I thought Ken did a brilliant job interviewing the artist on today's pod. He probes and asks intelligent questions, and it's quite a revealing interview. I'm looking forward to seeing the portrait.

    Yeah, thoroughly enjoyed today's pod.

Instead of McGrath confidently heading the ball away in his USA '94 kit or something like that, it's some weird thing with him sitting on a chair with his face obscured, if I was McGrath don't think I'd be a fan of it.

Arty farty nonsense as Gilesy would say.

If he doesn't like it, he only has himself to blame. I haven't seen it as I'll go and look at it in person, but the artist seemed to explain exactly why he took the approach he did

Anyone else's SC feed not update on the Apple podcast app? Last pod available to me was Mon football pod.

Saw a picture of it, very odd portrait. Not a fan of it myself.

Enjoyed the interview with him tho.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,132 ✭✭✭✭Cienciano

Same. The interview was better than the painting. Tbh, not a fan of the artists style

No issues for me. Any chance your payment method expired at the end of the month?

Didn't even think about that, still signed up with my expired card, cheers.

More tariff talk, less Dour Dion

It was a photo of Brian Dooher in 2008 that Kenny showed to Darragh O'Se, not McGeeney as Murph said.

Enjoyed the episode about Micko, the fella from Kerry was right though, he does have a statue in Waterville

They got another Friday off out of it anyway 😁

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Murph is a poor interviewer though.. they started talking about Heffo getting the international rules job ahead of Micko and I thought to myself that this will be interesting and it was like as if Murph wasn't listening and he just moves on to another point that he wanted to make..

I look forward to LOI chat more than Prem chat these days. Really enjoyed the lads discussing the trip to Dalymount on today's pod. The fact it's a very boring Premier league season helps too I guess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,032 ✭✭✭Raoul Duke

But they're not talking about the LOI. Just Bohemians.

And I personally dislike it. Partly because it's squeezed in in a way that makes it hard to skip. But also because it's the same nonsense all the time.

I think that I've worked out why I wasn't getting on with the Branno bits. It's because he cares too much about 1 club. I'm sorry if this is insulting to any of you, but a grown man should not care as much as he does.

The 3 lads for the past 20 odd years have done a good job of being club neutral. Branno is steering them away from this.

    Rant over. Apologies.

He's better than the rugby guy who insists on answering his own questions before the analysts.
