Maybe that's the trade off for the time being. Stalled new projects moving again amid pressure to fund public transport as well. Not ideal, but maybe resources can only stretch so far. Also the government probably wants the bigger new projects to show the public it's getting things done. Pavement projects don't get much headlines or tape cutting photocalls.

Yes, re-paving is seen as an inconvenience by a lot of drivers, but a "new" road is always welcomed by drivers.

It does seem like we may have a decent 9/10 projects ready to commence construction in the next 3-4 years from the short Slane bypass to the M20.

Apart from the Slane Bypass, the other projects aren't going to ABP until Q3, possibly Q4. Realistically none (bar Slane Bypass) will be commencing until 2028 at the earliest. Slane is likely to be the only big project to commence until 2028 (potentially 2029). I've been saying it for a couple years, pipeline planning has been terrible.

deeply unimpressed with that funding allocation yet again- needs a 0 added to the end to make the kind of progress that the country needs. We have regressed further into more unimpressive levels of patheticness in infrastructure development. The cynic in me tells me the arse is dragged out of “the process” to drag out any decions for as long as politically possible. Stuff like the N20 and N24 have been planned and replanned for decades now. And the roads themselves and road safety remain worse than ever. Can count on one hand the few major roads projects actually under construction ie the N21 Adare and N5 Strokestown projects

This is just road spend. I'm sorry but the idea of spending €6 billion on the road network is completely over the top. If you mean general infrastructure then there are other projects where money is being spent so it's hard to get an exact figure of overall infrastructure spend.

With the global uncertainty that's in the air at the moment we might find ourselves seeing a lot of this cut back over the next few years as well.

    Bang on here.

The NDP was published in 2018. There were 28 projects of the 45 mentioned that hadn't been submitted for planning at that stage. Since then, 3 of those have been submitted (Limerick-Foynes, Slane and Galway Ring Road). Horrendous preparation for the future.
