    Forgot to ask what does the red wire do. Its connected to a sensor? adjacent to the cylinderstat and something higher up.

    yes its temp sensor back to the eddi.. there ones on the top of the tank and the bottom and actually have a different one in the middle on the back side.. once the temp drops below a certain level ive a home assistant automation which calls for heat to the gas boiler via nest thermostat.. just ensures the water in the tank is warm if anyone wants a shower etc..

    The sensor is on the bottom near the cylinderstat??, whats the round object at the top of the red wire??

    There's two sensors in the picture, one at top has a ring of expanding foam around it..that's a brass fitting/cap? In the middle of the foam
